Job Description

Human Capital + Payroll Analyst

Job Description:

The Purpose of Your Role as a Human Capital + Payroll Analyst

The Human Capital + Payroll Analyst will help keep employee data, time and attendance, and weekly payroll information accurate and moving on time. Working across Human Capital, Payroll, Operations, and Accounting, you'll manage employee lifecycle transactions in Workday, review payroll information, and help resolve issues before they impact employees.

You'll become a go to resource for employees, leaders, unions, and project teams while building deep knowledge of Workday, Lumber, union agreements, wage requirements, and the payroll process from start to finish.

What You'll Be Part Of

  • Process employee lifecycle transactions in Workday, including new hires, transfers, promotions, job changes, organizational changes, exemptions, and terminations

  • Review timecards, job cost, wage, union, and payroll information to prepare accurate data for weekly payroll processing

  • Research union agreements, wage rates, prevailing wage requirements, and certified payroll information to ensure payroll calculations are accurate and compliant

  • Respond to employee and leader questions, investigate discrepancies, and work with Human Capital, Payroll, Operations, and Accounting to resolve issues

  • Validate employee changes and payroll information in Workday and maintain accurate, complete employee records and documentation

  • Provide backup support for onboarding, payroll processing, and other Human Capital and Payroll activities as needed

This position combines data accuracy, customer service, problem solving, and knowledge of both Human Capital and payroll processes.

What We're Looking For in You

  • 2+ years working with confidential Human Capital, payroll, or employee data

  • Familiarity with employee lifecycle processes, payroll administration, or HR systems

  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to research and interpret detailed information, including union agreements, wage requirements, and payroll policies

  • Detail oriented approach to reviewing data, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records

  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with employees, leaders, unions, and cross functional teams

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; Bachelor's degree preferred

What This Position Is (and Is Not)

This position is:

  • A hands-on combination of Human Capital administration, payroll preparation, and employee support

  • A position where accuracy and attention to detail directly impact employees and weekly payroll

  • An opportunity to become a subject matter resource for Workday, Lumber, union payroll, and employee lifecycle processes

This position is not:

  • Limited to entering data into Workday or processing payroll

  • A position where you'll work within Human Capital or Payroll in isolation

  • Focused only on resolving issues after they occur; you'll also look for ways to improve processes and prevent recurring problems

Why This Position Stands Out

You'll gain a broad understanding of how employee information moves from onboarding and Workday transactions through timekeeping, payroll, accounting, and employee records. You'll also work with a wide range of employees, leaders, unions, and operational teams, giving you a view into how Human Capital and Payroll support the business.

As you build your knowledge, you'll have the opportunity to become a trusted resource for complex payroll questions and help improve the processes behind the employee experience.

If This Sounds Like You

Wed like to connect if you're organized, curious, comfortable working across teams, and take pride in accurate work. Especially if you enjoy learning how systems and processes fit together.
