Position Summary:
The Field Placement Administrator organizes the placement of students in both pre-practicum and student teaching sites. A key component of this role is developing, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with existing schools, while also identifying and establishing new partnerships. The Field Placement Administrator represents the department in communication with cooperating teachers, central office personnel, and administrators in partnering school districts. The Field Placement Administrator works closely with the Program Directors of Villanova’s teacher certification programs, the department chairperson, university supervisors of student teaching, and the PDE Liaison to ensure student progress in professional development and completion of all state-mandated requirements for teacher certification.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaboration with Partnering Schools and Districts
  • Develops, maintains, and strengthens relationships with existing partners, while also identifying and establishing partnerships with new diverse schools, including urban, suburban, public, private, and charter.
  • Maintains a database of school and community contacts and information on their procedures for placing students in school observations, pre-practicum experiences, and student teaching placements.
  • Communicates with cooperating personnel in the schools to provide information about Villanova’s procedures and requirements.
  • Represents Villanova’s Mission in local school communities
  • Communicates with assistant superintendents, principals, curriculum directors, human resource directors, teachers, and administrative assistants on a regular basis.
  • Provides appropriate follow-up communication with cooperating teachers at the conclusion of student teaching with thank you letters and notification of voucher option

Collaboration with Villanova Students, Faculty, and Staff
  • Initiates and coordinates the field experience and student teaching application process by meeting individually with each teacher certification student (undergraduate and graduate)
  • Places students in field practicum sites & student teaching in schools
  • Oversees student compliance regarding all required clearances (e.g., medical, child abuse, and criminal clearances.)
  • Collaborates with Program Directors, PDE Liaison, and faculty to track student progress throughout their field experiences and to communicate with faculty regarding student evaluations and progress
  • Informs students of placement site policies and deportment expectations
  • Plans and implements a Student Teaching Orientation program for students and university supervisors
  • Prepares Villanova supervisors for their duties by providing student and school information, facilitating student/supervisor relationship, coordinating the evaluation process, and charting student progress.
  • Attends all department meetings and meetings of Education program faculty

Program Support
  • Collects and maintains records of all evaluations (e.g., by students, university supervisors, cooperating teachers, etc.)
  • Maintains and updates student files and Student Teaching Handbook, ascertaining full compliance by students with these requirements.
  • Serves as the department’s facilitator of the PHEAA Student Teacher Stipend and communicates with the appropriate university offices, LEAs, and PDE to distribute funds to eligible students and cooperating teachers
  • Collaborates with the Student PSEA Advisor to facilitate student-centered events

Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education

Work Experience
  • Minimum three years’ experience working in K-12 schools

Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; Ability to work respectfully and effectively with faculty, staff, and students; ability to work collaboratively as a team member; ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently
  • Takes initiative, possesses a service mindset, is responsive to faculty requests
  • Attention to written and numerical detail required
  • Has a deep commitment to the well-being of the Department
  • Must be an upbeat, energetic self-starter
  • Should be comfortable navigating independent projects from concept to execution
  • Willingness to learn new computer programs and systems, if needed
  • Excellent computer skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat)

  • Prior experience in a higher education setting.

Salary Posting Information:
This position falls within salaried grade 13 and the range is $52,000-65,100. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
