Job Description
SUMMARY
The Route Service Technician is responsible for the routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspection of assigned pools to ensure water quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Under the direction of supervisory staff, this role performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks such as brushing, vacuuming, chemical balancing, and basic equipment upkeep. The technician maintains detailed service records; monitors inventory and communicates any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receives direction from higher-level supervisory staff and follows assigned service schedules
- Cleans and maintains assigned pool(s) in accordance with company quality and safety standards
- Performs routine maintenance tasks including brushing, netting, vacuuming, and sweeping of pools and related equipment
- Carries out semi-skilled and skilled aquatic maintenance duties such as water testing and balancing, filter and salt cell cleaning, and general equipment maintenance
- Accurately records and reports weekly chemical readings and any corrective actions taken; submits documentation to the office in a timely manner
- Assesses equipment conditions, performs minor corrective actions, and submits repair requests as needed to ensure timely resolution
- Monitors and maintains truck inventory, including tools, pool chemicals, and other required supplies
- Attends Aquatic Service safety meetings, department meetings, and company-wide training as required
- Maintains a clean, professional appearance and wears company-issued uniforms, including shirts and hats
- Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality, reporting to assigned locations on time
- Performs all assigned duties without the need for accommodation
- Performs other duties as assigned
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- No managerial responsibilities for this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Minimum Experience: Entry-level position; 0–2 years of experience in pool service, maintenance, or a related field preferred but not required
- Education: High school diploma or GED required
- Basic knowledge of pool equipment, water chemistry, and cleaning methods is a plus (training will be provided)
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and service checklists with consistency and accuracy
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Strong time management skills with the ability to complete tasks independently and efficiently
- Ability to accurately record service data, chemical readings, and maintenance actions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with supervisors, teammates, and customers
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within the role
- Must maintain a clean and professional appearance, including wearing company-issued uniforms
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles and handle pool-related tools and equipment
