This is a senior editorial leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the content vision of one of Canada’s most trusted personal finance brands. You will oversee the full editorial lifecycle, from strategy and commissioning to publishing and performance optimization, ensuring content remains authoritative, data-driven, and aligned with evolving reader behaviour. The role sits at the intersection of journalism, product, and analytics, requiring a strong ability to blend editorial judgment with performance insights. You will lead a network of contributors and subject-matter experts while driving high-impact financial storytelling rooted in Canadian data and real-world expertise. As the editorial architect, you will help evolve how financial content is created, distributed, and consumed in an AI-driven search landscape. This is a pivotal leadership position for someone who thrives in building modern editorial systems while preserving journalistic integrity and trust.

Accountabilities:

Lead the end-to-end editorial strategy, execution, and performance of high-impact personal finance content across digital platforms.

  • Own the editorial calendar and content strategy, ensuring alignment with audience needs, SEO/GEO trends, and brand authority standards
  • Commission, edit, and manage content produced by freelancers, journalists, and financial experts (e.g., CFPs, tax professionals)
  • Produce and oversee data-driven financial journalism using Canadian public datasets and proprietary financial insights
  • Lead rapid-response editorial coverage of major financial events, ensuring timely, expert-led analysis
  • Optimize cornerstone content and “best of” guides to maintain accuracy, competitiveness, and search performance
  • Monitor audience analytics (Google Analytics, SEMrush, etc.) to inform editorial planning and content optimization
  • Guide distribution strategies across newsletters, social media, and digital platforms to maximize engagement and retention
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and commercial teams to develop interactive content experiences while safeguarding editorial independence
Requirements:

5+ years of experience in digital journalism or editorial publishing, including at least 2 years in a senior editorial leadership role, with strong expertise in personal finance content.

  • Deep understanding of the Canadian financial landscape, including mortgages, investing, taxes, and banking
  • Proven experience leading end-to-end editorial operations, from strategy and commissioning to publishing and performance analysis
  • Strong track record managing freelance contributors and subject-matter experts
  • Expertise in SEO and familiarity with GEO, with the ability to translate search data into editorial strategy
  • Experience with newsletter platforms and audience engagement strategies to build direct reader relationships
  • Strong data journalism skills, including interpreting public datasets (e.g., StatsCan, CMHC, Bank of Canada)
  • Exceptional editing ability with strong attention to accuracy, clarity, and editorial consistency
  • Proficiency with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush), and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of AI-assisted editorial workflows is considered an asset
  • Financial certifications (e.g., CFP, QAFP, CSC) or financial services background are a plus
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range: $100,000 – $150,000 CAD based on experience
  • Remote-first work environment across Canada
  • Flexible working hours supporting work-life balance
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage with no employee-paid premiums
  • RRSP matching program to support long-term financial planning
  • Professional development and annual training allowance
  • Regular team socials and opportunities for cross-functional collaboration
  • Opportunity to shape a nationally recognized financial media brand in a rapidly evolving digital landscape
