The Impact of this Role:
The Senior Manager, Data, Analytics & AI is responsible for leading OptiMed's enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI), data, analytics, business intelligence, and intelligent automation strategy. This role will serve as the organizational leader responsible for identifying, developing, governing, and scaling AI capabilities that improve operational performance, automate repeatable work, strengthen decision-making, and enable continued business growth.
A critical responsibility of this position is translating emerging AI capabilities into practical business solutions. The Manager will partner with Executive Leadership, Operations, Clinical Operations, Pharmacy, Revenue Cycle, Finance, Information Technology, and other business functions to identify high-value AI opportunities, prioritize use cases, develop business cases, lead implementation, measure outcomes, and drive organizational adoption.
The Manager will also lead OptiMed's enterprise data and analytics capabilities, recognizing that trusted, governed, accessible data is foundational to successful AI. Responsibilities include Data Engineering, Data Governance, Master Data Management, Business Intelligence, reporting, advanced analytics, data quality, and enterprise data architecture in partnership with IT.
This individual will be expected to combine strong technical understanding of modern AI and data technologies with business and operational leadership. The role is accountable not simply for experimenting with AI, but for moving AI capabilities from concept through production and measurable business adoption while maintaining appropriate healthcare data security, governance, compliance, and human oversight.
What You’ll be Doing:
Artificial Intelligence Strategy & Enablement
· Develop and execute OptiMed's enterprise AI strategy and roadmap.
· Serve as a key organizational leader and subject matter resource for Generative AI, Machine Learning, advanced analytics, and emerging AI capabilities.
· Identify and prioritize high-value AI opportunities based on business value, feasibility, risk, and scalability.
· Lead AI initiatives from discovery and proof-of-concept through implementation, adoption, and measurement of business outcomes.
· Identify opportunities to leverage AI for data quality, reporting, analytics, forecasting, workflow improvement, employee productivity, and decision support.
· Evaluate capabilities within existing enterprise platforms before recommending net-new AI technologies.
· Establish responsible AI practices addressing security, privacy, compliance, accuracy, and appropriate human oversight.
· Promote organizational AI education, adoption, and effective use of approved AI capabilities.
Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance
· Develop and advance OptiMed's enterprise data strategy in alignment with organizational objectives and the AI roadmap.
· Lead Data Engineering, Reporting & Analytics, Data Stewardship, and Data Governance functions.
· Advance enterprise Data Governance, Data Quality, and Master Data Management capabilities.
· Establish clear data ownership, stewardship, definitions, quality standards, and accountability.
· Leverage AI and automation to improve data cleansing, standardization, matching, anomaly detection, and overall data quality.
· Ensure enterprise data is trusted, accessible, secure, and appropriately governed.
Data Platform, Architecture & Modernization
· Lead the continued evolution of OptiMed's enterprise data platform, building upon existing cloud, integration, and data modernization initiatives.
· Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Data Engineering to mature scalable architecture supporting data, analytics, integration, automation, and AI.
· Continue advancing modernization of ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, integrations, and enterprise data services.
· Optimize utilization of existing cloud and data technologies, including Snowflake, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and other established enterprise platforms.
· Advance standards for data pipelines, architecture, documentation, monitoring, reliability, and lifecycle management.
· Continue reducing technical debt, fragmented integrations, redundant data movement, and unnecessary platform complexity.
· Ensure the enterprise data platform is secure, resilient, maintainable, cost-effective, and capable of supporting future AI and analytics needs.
Operational Intelligence & Automation
· Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities to improve workflows through data, analytics, automation, and AI.
· Identify operational bottlenecks, manual processes, duplicate work, reconciliation activities, and opportunities for greater efficiency.
· Determine whether business challenges are best addressed through process improvement, existing system capabilities, integration, analytics, automation, or AI.
· Develop analytical and forecasting capabilities supporting areas such as staffing, inventory, referrals, reimbursement, utilization, and operational planning.
· Measure improvements through productivity, quality, cycle time, service, and financial outcomes.
Strategic Partner & Sales Support
· Partner with Sales and Executive Leadership on select large, complex, or strategic prospective partner opportunities where data, analytics, AI, or integration capabilities are important to the opportunity.
· Represent OptiMed's data strategy, analytics capabilities, AI direction, integration approach, and technology maturity during selected prospect discussions and presentations.
· Participate in technical discovery and discussions regarding partner integrations, data exchange, APIs, reporting, analytics, and future-state capabilities.
· Help assess the feasibility, scalability, risks, and dependencies associated with prospective partner requirements.
· Contribute to strategic RFPs, proposals, and presentations when specialized data, AI, analytics, or integration expertise is required.
· Help prospective partners understand and gain confidence in OptiMed's expertise, technology, strategy, governance, and ability to support sophisticated data and integration requirements.
Analytics & Reporting
· Lead enterprise reporting and analytics strategy supporting executive, operational, financial, and client-facing needs.
· Establish standardized KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, and operational reporting.
· Advance analytics capabilities from historical reporting toward predictive insights, forecasting, and proactive decision support.
· Leverage AI to improve trend identification, anomaly detection, executive summaries, and generation of actionable insights.
· Expand self-service analytics while reducing dependency on manually created spreadsheets and repetitive reporting processes.
Leadership & Collaboration
· Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Data, Analytics & AI team.
· Translate business challenges into scalable data, analytics, automation, and AI solutions.
· Partner effectively with business, technology, and executive leadership.
· Present strategies, recommendations, business cases, and results to Executive Leadership.
· Manage key vendors, consultants, and strategic technology partners.
· Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory:
Provides leadership for the Data, Analytics & AI organization, including Data Engineering, Reporting & Analytics, Data Stewardship, Integration Development, and future AI/Data Science capabilities.
Who You’ll be Working With:
Works closely with Enterprise Architecture, IT Leadership, Information Security, Compliance, Operations, Clinical Leadership, Pharmacy, Finance, Revenue Cycle, Sales, Executive Leadership, vendors, and strategic partners.
Reports to the Director of IT.
Skills and Experience You’ll Bring to the Table:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Data Science, Healthcare Informatics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field.
Experience
· 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in Data, Analytics, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, AI, or Information Management.
· 3+ years leading technical and business-facing teams.
Competencies You’ll Bring to the Table:
Experience developing and implementing enterprise data strategies and modern data capabilities.
· Demonstrated experience leading AI initiatives from concept into practical business use.
· Strong understanding of Generative AI, Machine Learning, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation.
· Experience with enterprise Data Governance, Data Quality, and Master Data Management.
· Experience with modern cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT, integrations, and APIs.
· Demonstrated ability to translate business problems into practical data, analytics, automation, and AI solutions.
· Strong executive communication and presentation skills, including the ability to represent technical capabilities with prospective partners and other external stakeholders.
· Healthcare, specialty pharmacy, infusion, PBM, payer, or healthcare services experience preferred.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time, remote-first position with occasional on-site collaboration at OptiMed’s headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The role operates in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects and integrations are managed simultaneously.
The position requires prolonged computer use and the ability to work across multiple systems and tools daily. Occasional on-site presence may be required for collaboration, system setup, or project needs.
