2nd Shift Shipping Operations Clerk in Lancaster, Texas at Petmate

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic team at Petmate. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for managing the outbound shipment of goods from the warehouse and distribution center. This role ensures that all products are accurately picked, packed, and shipped in accordance with customer requirements and company standards. The clerk works closely with the shipping team to maintain efficiency and accuracy in the shipping process, contributing to overall customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring drivers are checked in and out efficiently and on time.
• Ensure that any special shipping instructions are followed, including any special Bill of Lading requirements.
• You will coordinate emails between shipping and our Transportation team.
• Provide yard check assignment sheets to the transportation team.
• Advise the Transportation Team of any carrier detention.
• You will answer phone calls and emails from carriers and internal Petmate personnel that involve shipping.
• You will complete the required shipping documentation and provide it to Customer Service and Customers as required.
• Utilize the Company Vision statement as the primary guide for decision-making. Support and encourage behavior that reflects the term "customer" refers to dealers, suppliers, and all company employees.
• Work within Petmate’s safety policies and programs in a uniform, consistent manner to prevent employee injuries and illnesses and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Follow proper lifting techniques, including team lifting, when items are too heavy for individual lifting.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, organized facility through diligent housekeeping efforts. Employees are required to assist in keeping aisles open and free of trash as well as picking up after themselves.
• Use the computer and other devices provided in warehouse automation systems with care, report any unsafe or malicious activities that could damage the automation or computer systems.
• Security - every employee is considered to be a member of the distribution center security team and as such has responsibility for the security and integrity of the premises, equipment, inventory, and company information.
• Employees must be flexible with available work hours, including overtime, and be able to respond to varying workloads without prior notice. Report to work every day, on time, as scheduled.
• Must be able to assist in the loading or shipping of small parcel packages.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Requirements:

• Highly customer-focused
• Demonstrated good judgment, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
• Well organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to learn and utilize RF devices
• Ability to use simple math
• Computer proficient
• Operate one of the three pieces of equipment: Electric Pallet Jack, Counterbalance, Reach Truck, or be able to efficiently ship Orders using UPS World Ship and FedEx Ship system.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• 1 year of distribution center experience.
• Previous experience driving Forklifts, Order Pickers (Cherry Picker), Reach Trucks, and/or Pallet Jacks Required

The manufacturing environment can be fast-paced and physically demanding, with exposure to various materials and processes that may result in a dirty workspace.
