Job Description

Job Summary: South Broadway Location

The Line Cook/Weekend Chef is responsible for the overall cleanliness, provisioning, and service for meals. The Line Cook/Weekend Chef assures that food temperatures and cleanliness meet the standards set by ServSafe.® The Line Cook/Weekend Chef helps the weekday chef prep and cook meals for clients. On the weekends, the Line Cook/Weekend Chef cooks breakfast, lunch, and dinner for up to 120 people during the weekend.

Essential Functions:

  • Food:
  • Assists weekend day cook in preparation and serving of meals
  • On weekends, works independently to prep, cook, and serve meals
  • Adhere to all Health Department guidelines
  • Maintain appropriate storage and cleanliness of all food preparation and storage areas
  • Maintain beverage availability―juices, cool-aid®, iced tea, coffee, etc.
  • Label, date and store food appropriately
  • Utilize donated food items
  • Cleanliness:
  • Clean all food storage and preparation areas after each meal service
  • Assure that all cooking utensils, vessels and dishes are cleaned after each meal
  • Verify that tables are wiped down and floors swept after each meal
  • Prepare balanced and nutritious meals from a pre-planned dietary menu
  • Assist in the coordination of special events that impact the kitchen
  • Keep personal ServSafe® credentialing up-to-date
  • Abide by the policies, procedures and ethical guidelines of the non-profit organization and the Missouri Department of Mental Health
  • Maintain client confidentiality according to Federal HIPPA law
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents and provide an alcohol and drug free environment
  • Able to constantly work standing over hot stoves, prep stations, and for clean up
  • Able to lift food items as needed
  • Able to walk through the kitchen and dining areas and to food storage areas

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Food Service training and background
  • Ability to effectively communicate between residents and management
  • Ability to work well with the other staff members including the Floor Monitors and Kitchen Manager and keep the kitchen clean for the weekday Kitchen Staff.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and work under the deadline of meal times
  • Strong organizational skills.
