About This Position

United Pacific Industries (UPI) is an industry leader in the big rig truck accessories and classic hot-rod accessories market. We are looking for a dedicated IT Desktop Support Specialist to join our IT team to provide technical support for end-users.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-level support to employees for hardware and software issues, including desktop computers, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to operating systems (Windows, macOS), software applications, network connectivity, email, and other IT services.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment (printers, scanners, etc.).
  • Perform software installations, updates, and patches, ensuring systems are running the latest security updates.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of new hardware and software for employees.
  • Provide remote and in-person support for employees, both locally and, as necessary, at remote office locations.
  • Create and maintain accurate records of IT support incidents, including detailed documentation of troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
  • Perform system diagnostics and escalate issues to higher-level IT teams or third-party vendors when necessary.
  • Maintain and update user accounts and permissions in Active Directory, Office 365, and other systems.
  • Assist in maintaining the organization's IT inventory, including tracking hardware, software licenses, and other assets.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in IT desktop support or help desk roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and macOS environments.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and other enterprise software applications.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance (laptops, desktops, printers, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple support requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Deployment (AZ-100), Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900), Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist (CMSS), or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
  • Experience with remote desktop tools and remote troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
  • Familiarity with virtual environments and remote desktop services (VDI, Citrix, VMWare).
  • Basic scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
