About This Position
RN - ICU
Job Summary:
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient/family/significant other’s needs and nursing care in the Intensive Care and intermediate care environment. Provides cardiac monitoring and patient assessment during phase I and II post-anesthesia recovery; maintains patient safety and coordinates nursing care for patient that have received anesthesia/conscious sedation. Responds to medical emergency code (10-10), monitors EKG, analyzes cardiac rhythms and initiates appropriate treatment. Provides health educational needs for patients/family/significant others; manages patient care assignments; acts in a clinical leadership role; demonstrates professional/clinical competency; directs, supervises, and acts as a resource person for professional/non-professional clinical staff; assists with patient care of all ages and performs other related duties.
Education and Experience:
Diploma required; Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing preferred; one year previous acute care nursing experience preferred; current and valid license with Illinois Department of Professional Regulation as a Registered Nurse; ACLS and PALS is preferred and required after one year of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic computer skills; good interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with equipment; ability to understand oral/written instructions and understanding of medical terminology.
