About This Position

The purpose of the Care Management Support Staff, Inpatient Services is to support the Care Management department and Hospitalist program, with the underlying objective of enhancing the quality of clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction while also managing the cost of care and providing timely and accurate information to payers. At the direction of the Care Manager, the Care Management Resource Coordinator assists with a variety of administrative functions to support discharge planning, Swing Bed referral coordination and other functions to support quality and compliance improvement work. This role also supports the Hospitalist and Surgical Services programs with administrative functions that impact communication with payors and outside vendors.

Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to:
Critical thinking and management of complex situations. Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Strong analytical, data management and computer skills. Strong organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by the capacity to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks and role components. The ability to exercise sound judgment in interactions with physicians, payors, patients, and families. The ability to work independently without close supervision to complete assignments and organize time. Demonstrated the ability to work effectively and in a collaborative manner with other hospital departments and staff.
License/Certification
N/A
Education and/or Experience
(3) years of administrative experience, preferably in healthcare industry.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance
Physical work is light to moderate demand. Works inside. Moderate amount of walking and standing. Normal hearing or corrected hearing required to converse on the phone or with patient, staff, and family. Normal or corrected vision to complete pre-printed forms, documentation, and to visually assess patient needs. Manual dexterity required to complete pre-printed forms, operate phone system, and computer. Command of the English language sufficient to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
