Job Description

The Design Specialist supports New Product Development by creating, maintaining, and improving CAD drawings for new and existing products. This role partners closely with R&D, New Product Development (NPD), Dealer Support, Sourcing, and Quality teams to ensure drawings are accurate, buildable, and dealer-ready while meeting Fabuwood standards, specifications, and product offerings.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm and Friday 8:00am-1:00pm

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Create CAD Drawings for New Products

  • Develop accurate CAD drawings for new product introductions, including cabinetry, vanities, accessories, and components.
  • Collaborate with R&D and NPD to ensure drawings align with product intent and specifications.

2. Revise and Maintain Existing CADs

  • Update existing CAD drawings to correct errors, incorporate enhancements, and reflect approved design or specification changes.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with R&D, NPD, Sourcing, and Quality teams to ensure CADs align with product intent, manufacturing feasibility, and specifications.
  • Incorporate cross-functional feedback as needed.

4. Dealer Support & Custom Drawings

  • Support Dealer Support by creating or modifying drawings for dealer requests, layouts, and special applications.

5. Product Expertise Development

  • Build and maintain strong knowledge of Fabuwood’s product offerings, specifications, construction standards, finishes, and colors.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or similar drafting tools).
  • 2+ years of experience creating and maintaining technical drawings, preferably in cabinetry, millwork, furniture, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards, dimensions, tolerances, and technical documentation.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, consistent drawings.
  • Ability to interpret product specifications, design intent, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Product Development, Sourcing, or Quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to incorporate feedback from internal teams and dealer partners.
