About the Role:

The Dispatch Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods within the transportation and warehousing industry. This position is responsible for coordinating and scheduling shipments, managing communication between drivers, clients, and internal teams, and resolving any logistical issues that arise during transit. The ideal candidate will optimize route planning to maximize resource utilization while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. By effectively managing dispatch operations, the Dispatch Coordinator contributes directly to customer satisfaction and operational excellence. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in dispatch coordination or a related role within the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Proficiency with dispatch software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization tools.
  • Familiarity with warehousing operations and inventory management.
  • Ability to analyze data to improve dispatch efficiency.
  • Customer service experience within a logistics environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily dispatch operations by scheduling and assigning shipments to drivers based on availability, location, and delivery requirements.
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers to monitor shipment progress, address delays, and provide support as needed.
  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel and customer service teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
  • Track and document shipment status, prepare reports, and update relevant systems to maintain accurate records.
  • Resolve logistical issues such as route changes, vehicle breakdowns, or delivery discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies throughout the dispatch process.
  • Assist in training new dispatch staff and contribute to process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
