The RoleThe Food Safety Business Partner is responsible for leading food safety execution, compliance, and culture across the company. This role partners closely with Operations leadership to ensure consistent adherence to food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and brand expectations.
Serving as the field-facing food safety expert, this position focuses on driving behavior, validating execution, and reducing risk through coaching, audits, and continuous improvement. The role plays a critical part in protecting the brand, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring safe food handling practices across all locations.
What You’ll Do- Ensure compliance with local health department requirements and company food safety standards
- Support restaurants during health inspections and regulatory interactions
- Review inspection reports, identify trends, and partner with Operations on corrective action plans
- Maintain readiness for audits, investigations, and incident response
- Deliver hands-on, in-restaurant training to managers and hourly team members
- Reinforce food safety fundamentals through real-time coaching and feedback
- Support onboarding and continuous education for new and existing leaders
- Partner with Learning & Development to enhance training programs
- Work closely with Regional Directors, District Managers, and Restaurant Leaders to embed food safety into daily operations
- Align food safety expectations with operational realities to drive compliance without disrupting service
- Support new restaurant openings, remodels, and special events
- Act as a trusted advisor to Operations on risk mitigation and best practices
- Promote a strong food safety culture rooted in accountability and ownership
- Leverage data, audits, and field observations to drive continuous improvement
- Support company-wide food safety initiatives and program rollouts
- Recognize and reinforce positive behaviors and high-performing locations
- Support investigation of food safety incidents, guest complaints, and potential foodborne illness events
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Public Health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–8+ years of food safety experience in multi-unit restaurant operations
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code principles, HACCP, and active managerial control
- Experience conducting audits and working with health departments
- Ability to influence and coach operations teams in fast-paced environments
- Willingness to travel extensively (approx. 50–75%)
- Bilingual - Spanish
- HACCP Certification
- PCQI certification (or equivalent preventive controls experience)
- Experience working in restaurant environments
