Onboard Systems Hoist & Winch, located in Anaheim, CA is one of the world’s leading providers of Search & Rescue (SAR) and Human External Cargo (HEC) advanced mission equipment for civil, commercial, and military helicopters.
Position Overview
Location: Anaheim, CA (Onsite/Hybrid/Remote)
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay: $115,000 - $130,000 per year
The International Trade Compliance professional will lead and scale global trade compliance activities within our aerospace business. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with applicable export control and customs regulations, enabling international business operations, and embedding robust, scalable processes across the organization.
What You’ll Do
Trade Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure compliance with global trade regulations, including EAR, and applicable customs laws.
- Monitor regulatory changes and translate them into actionable internal policies and procedures.
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, assessments, and government inquiries.
Export Licensing Strategy & Management
- Develop and execute export licensing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Prepare, submit, and manage export license applications (e.g., DSPs, BIS licenses), agreements, and exemptions.
- Maintain license compliance, recordkeeping, and usage tracking.
Product & Technical Data Classification
- Lead classification activities for hardware, software, and technical data (ECCN, HTS codes).
- Establish and maintain a standardized classification process integrated with engineering and product lifecycle workflows.
Risk Management & Internal Controls
- Conduct risk assessments across programs, customers, and geographies.
- Design and implement internal controls to prevent violations and ensure audit readiness.
- Investigate and resolve potential compliance issues, including voluntary disclosures if required.
Systems & Process Optimization
- Evaluate, implement, and manage tools integrated with ERP/PLM systems.
- Drive automation of screening, classification, licensing, and recordkeeping processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Legal to ensure compliance is embedded early in program execution.
- Support international collaborations, including data sharing, joint development, and offset obligations.
Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver training programs on export controls and trade compliance requirements.
- Create clear, enforceable work instructions and guidance for business stakeholders.
Reporting & Governance
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on compliance status, risks, and key metrics.
- Maintain documentation and records in accordance with regulatory retention requirements.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in business, International Trade, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in international trade compliance, preferably within aerospace or defense.
- Strong working knowledge of EAR, export licensing, ECCN classification, and customs regulations.
- Experience interfacing with U.S. government agencies (e.g., DDTC, BIS).
- Proven ability to implement processes and controls in a regulated environment.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate complex regulations into practical guidance.
- Experience with trade compliance software and ERP systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both commercial and military aerospace programs.
- Knowledge of non-U.S. export regulations (e.g., EU Dual-Use).
- Professional certification (e.g., customs broker, export compliance certification).
- Multilingual capability.
