We are seeking a team member who can apply critical thinking to financial reporting, provide outstanding customer service to the many agency contacts we support, and independently formulate well-reasoned opinions.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

  • Serve as an Assistant Director of Accounting and cover Director duties in her absence.
  • Supervision of approximately 30 team members across multiple accounting units, including the Statewide Financial Reporting unit, Accounts Payable unit, and Statewide Financial/HR System Operations Unit.
  • Manage, oversee, and be responsible for statewide financial reporting and administration of the State Purchasing Card Program.
  • Maintain and interpret statewide accounting policies.
  • Lead statewide operations for SAMII payroll, SAMII financial systems, and MissouriBUYS, or support the peer Assistant Director who may hold primary responsibility for these functions.
  • Review and respond to fiscal notes, assist with budget review and submissions.
  • Review and assist with bonds and engage with rating agency contacts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 5-7 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification. Substitutions may be allowed (for example, but not limited to, professional certifications or additional relevant experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in interpreting and applying GAAP.
  • Knowledge of Governmental Accounting and GASB Standards.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel.
  • Knowledge of the statewide accounting system and data warehouse reports.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Remain flexible, self-motivated, and work independently or as a member of a group with little supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others in the unit and agency customers.

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education and experience.
