Job Description

Responsible for the management and oversight of Campus Safety & Security, federal and state reporting, and risk management-related incidents.
Supervision Received:
Reports directly to the Chief Human Resources & Compliance Officer.
Supervision Exercised:
Manages the Office of Campus Safety & Security personnel.
- Maintains campus safety and security for all students, employees, visitors, and community members.
- Initiates and develops policies and programs to ensure adherence to campus policy, federal, state, and local laws. Works collaboratively with local law enforcement and public safety personnel.
- Works collaboratively with all offices and departments across campus. This position collaborates with campus offices to ensure programs and policies align with the institution’s goals and objectives and support student success initiatives.
- Ensures office practices are held to the highest standard for confidentiality and privacy. Thoroughly documents processes and programs for full audit compliance.
- Oversees and manages the Office of Campus Security and Safety including the recruitment, hiring, and supervision, and performance evaluation of full- and part-time campus safety and security personnel.
- Trains all safety and security staff on proper enforcement, investigative, and response procedures. Provides training and relevant information on campus safety and security to entire campus community.
- Conducts annual safety audits and works with all campus departments to complete safety and risk assessments. Analyzes incident report data to identify trends and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate potential concerns.
- Supports the University’s Worker’s Compensation process, including initial incident report is completed and injured employee is provided with resources regarding policies and benefits.
- Coordinates and compiles crime statistics in accordance and compliance with the Clery Act and all state and federal guidelines. Oversees and coordinates the annual entry of Clery data and completes the Annual Campus Safety and Security Data Report for the US Department of Education.
- Publishes the annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report.
- Manages the Security budget and submits payroll timecards.
- Performs other relevant and related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Professional Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of experience in Public Safety, Law Enforcement, Compliance, or Emergency Management
- A relevant combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree
- Administrative leadership and/or Public Safety experience in Higher Education or similar field of work.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to think critically and seek solutions which result in mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential data and retain all records as such.
- Knowledge and understanding of laws, rules, and techniques for maintaining legal records.
- Ability to be a resourceful problem-solver.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment as a team player and provide support and training on a wide range of topics to University faculty and staff.
- Demonstrated excellent relevant written and verbal communication skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety, compliance, and personnel management techniques and best practices.
- A tolerance for ambiguity and a willingness to manage diverse and frequently changing assignments, particularly the ability to do so with a positive attitude in a high-task environment.
- Experience and knowledge of working with safety systems.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends.
