EHR Billing and Configuration Specialist in Buffalo, New York at Endeavor Health

Endeavor Health Services is seeking an experienced EHR Billing & Configuration Specialist to support our electronic health record (EHR), billing, and revenue cycle operations. This position is responsible for system configuration, claims processing, troubleshooting, denial management, and end-user support to help ensure accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain EHR and billing system settings, including fee schedules, charge codes, payer rules, and insurance information.
• Test system updates, patches, and configuration changes to identify and prevent billing and claim errors.
• Troubleshoot claim edits, NCCI edits, payer rejections, and clearinghouse issues.
• Prepare, review, and submit accurate electronic and paper claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
• Monitor claims, payments, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable aging.
• Investigate and resolve rejected or underpaid claims and submit appeals as needed.
• Maintain workflows for payment and remittance posting.
• Provide EHR and billing system training and technical support to staff.
• Help ensure billing processes comply with HIPAA, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Medicare, Medicaid, and payer-specific requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus completion of a medical billing/coding program or an associate degree required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, healthcare administration, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with EHR and/or medical billing system configuration.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, insurance reimbursement, and claims processing.
• Experience with claim denials, appeals, and accounts receivable.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in health informatics, healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or similar coding certification.
• Experience with behavioral health, mental health, or substance use billing.
• Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements.
• EHR system configuration credentials or experience.

• $54,000 – 60,000/year (based on education, experience and credentials)
