Job Overview

The Ski & Snowboard Instructor provides safe, engaging, and skill-appropriate instruction to new and intermediate skiers and snowboarders of all ages. Instructors conduct private and group lessons, teaching proper techniques and helping guests develop the skills and confidence needed to safely enjoy the slopes.

Instructors work closely with Ski & Ride School leadership to provide a high-quality guest experience while keeping safety a top priority. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy skiing or snowboarding, working with people, and sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for snowsports with others.

Instruction & Coaching

• Conduct private and group ski and/or snowboard lessons for children and adults.
• Teach proper skiing or snowboarding techniques appropriate to each student's age, experience, and ability level.
• Clearly demonstrate skiing and snowboarding skills and techniques on snow.
• Observe student performance and provide constructive, encouraging feedback to promote skill development and confidence.
• Adapt teaching methods as needed to accommodate different learning styles, ages, and ability levels.
• Treat each lesson participant as an individual and provide attentive, supportive instruction.
• Participate in required training, clinics, and skiing/snowboarding activities to continually improve personal skills and teaching techniques.

Safety & Guest Service

• Create and maintain a safe, supportive, positive, and fun learning environment.
• Teach students safe skiing and snowboarding practices and provide them with the knowledge needed to safely navigate the slopes after completing their lesson.
• Assist students with safely loading and unloading tow ropes, chairlifts, and other applicable surface lifts.
• Monitor weather, snow, terrain, and guest conditions and adjust instruction when appropriate.
• Greet guests and assist in directing them to the appropriate lesson or meeting location.
• Provide helpful, friendly, courteous, and professional customer service to students, parents, guests, and fellow employees.
• Serve as a positive and professional ambassador for Seven Oaks Recreation.

Communication & Teamwork

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, supervisors, and fellow employees regarding lessons, student progress, safety concerns, and scheduling.
• Work cooperatively with Ski & Ride School leadership and other team members to provide an organized and positive guest experience.
• Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled shifts, lessons, training sessions, and clinics.

Qualifications

• Age Requirement: Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of hire.
• Skiing/Snowboarding Ability: Must be able to ski or snowboard safely and confidently on varying terrain and in changing snow and weather conditions.
• Experience: Previous ski/snowboard instructor, teaching, coaching, or childcare experience is preferred but not required.
• Certification: PSIA/AASI certification is a plus but is not required.
• Must successfully complete Seven Oaks ski/snowboard instructor training upon hire.
• Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be patient, enthusiastic, dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, peak periods, and during changing or inclement weather conditions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Must be able to ski or snowboard for extended periods of time.
• Requires frequent standing, walking, skiing/snowboarding, bending, balancing, reaching, and other physical activity.
• Must be able to assist young students and lift or move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in winter conditions, including freezing temperatures, snow, wind, and changing weather.
• Must be able to perform job duties safely on varying snow conditions and terrain.
