JOB SUMMARY:
The Mobile Service Technician’s primary responsibility is to minimize customer downtime on their buses through quick, accurate diagnosis and repairs in the field or at an A-Z facility. Must possess technical acumen and the ability to provide a strong level of internal and external customer service. Successfully complete a 3-6 month on the job training at one of our service centers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Successfully complete assigned work with excellence and high quality as efficiently as possible.
- Receive work orders and perform assigned tasks as required.
- Inventory and maintain issued and required company service tools in safe condition to perform jobs assigned.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain necessary parts to complete work.
- Inspect assigned vehicle thoroughly to determine the condition of the unit and if it requires any additional parts and/or safety items that require attention; report any problems.
- Accurately record the time spent on each job using the NetSuite application and record times in various segments of the work order.
- Write clear and concise descriptions or “stories” of the repairs performed on various segments of work order using the three “3” C method.

- Accurately track all parts and materials needed to perform repairs using the NetSuite application.
- Road Service Calls -travel to a customer’s location in a company service vehicle to perform repairs at the customer’s location.
- Effectively communicate with customers to provide an Iconic Customer Experience.
- Inform Service Management of any delays or problems with the assigned tasks.
- Maintain proper housekeeping of all work areas and tools.
- Properly secure all supplies and parts.
- Maintain all industry related and required Certifications.
- Conform with all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Conform to all safety rules and use of appropriate safety equipment.
- Execute basic and advanced diagnostic and repair work on all aspects of our product lines.
- Work independently and as a team to drive maximum repair efficiency.
- Operate a variety of top-of-the-line hand, power, and shop tools.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new technicians to help improve the team.
- All other reasonable duties assigned within a Service Technician role.

Management-related: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may include limited supervisory responsibilities. (Training and Development).
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of ambient weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Travel to and from customers’ locations all over the state of California.
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Shifts may vary.
Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.
Travel: This position requires the ability to be on the road up to 100% of the time.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in New Bus Deliveries.
- Assist in Facility Maintenance.
- Perform Monthly Safety Inspection

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Successful completion of A-Z Bus PDI Technician Certification Program.
- NFPA 70 – High Voltage Safety Certification (E.V. Tech.)
- 609 Certification.
- E.V. Power Drive Certified.
- Wheelchair Training (Inspection and Maintenance).

- A/C Training. At least one (1) of the following.

- ACT
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Vocational College or Trade/Technical School Diploma/Certificate.
- Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement.
- 5 + Years Professional Heavy Duty Automotive Mechanics Experience.
- 4 + Years Electrical System Diagnosis and Repair Experience.
- Blue-Bird Associate Level Certified.
- ASE School Bus Certification – MUST Be Certified in five (5) of the seven (7) categories.
