About Beacon Kalamazoo
Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation therapy services.
What You’ll Do
As a Transport EMT, you will provide support treatment, care and evaluation of patients on scene and during transport.
Transport EMT Job Responsibilities
- Arrives to the scene of an emergency, determines the situation, and develops a plan of action.
- Uses appropriate medical equipment and comprehends the severity of the injury.
- Monitors patient condition and performs data collection. Communicates findings and patient condition to primary Registered Nurse (RN).
- Assists with the mobilization, ambulation and transport of patients.
What you Bring
As a Transport EMT, you will demonstrate knowledge of ambulance and transport equipment, along with the analytical skills required to modify equipment to meet individual patient needs. Possesses a solid foundation in transport protocols, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making for patient care during transport. Maintains meticulous adherence to sterile techniques and universal precautions. Exhibits strong guest relations and interpersonal skills, enabling effective and tactful interaction with physicians, nursing staff, EMS personnel, respiratory therapists, patients, families, and personnel from other hospitals and agencies. Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, ensuring accurate and appropriate information exchange among team members. Displays leadership qualities, organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while effectively setting priorities and achieving goals. Demonstrates awareness of legal considerations in all aspects of patient care and transport. Performs effectively in high-stress situations involving critically ill patients, maintaining composure and strong team-oriented behaviors in close working environments. Additionally, shows proficiency in basic computer skills, including data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet use.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Drivers License credentialed from the Michigan Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
