About the Role:
The Area Manager, Power & Reliability, plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the operational performance and reliability of power systems within a designated geographic area in the United States. This position is responsible for ensuring the continuous delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective power to customers by managing teams, coordinating maintenance activities, and implementing strategic initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional departments to optimize asset performance, mitigate risks, and comply with regulatory standards. The Area Manager will drive improvements in system reliability metrics and customer satisfaction through proactive planning and effective resource management. Ultimately, this position ensures that power infrastructure meets current and future demands while supporting the company’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in power generation, transmission, or distribution operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of power system reliability standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with advanced power system analytics, asset management software, and outage management systems.
- Familiarity with renewable energy integration and sustainability initiatives within power systems.
- Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement programs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily operations of power generation, transmission, and distribution within the assigned area to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Develop and implement maintenance and inspection programs to prevent outages and extend asset life.
- Coordinate emergency response efforts and restoration activities during power disruptions to minimize downtime and impact on customers.
- Collaborate with engineering, safety, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and government regulations.
- Analyze performance data and prepare reports to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support strategic decision-making.
- Manage budgets, resources, and personnel to optimize operational efficiency and meet organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and customer focus among team members.
