Job Description

Strategy
  • Under direction of both CEO and president, develop a long-term corporate growth strategy, identify market opportunities, technological shifts, and competitive dynamics within the global lithium-ion battery ecosystem.
  • Translate strategic insights into actionable plans for both M&A and organic internal development.
  • Assist in planning the company's long-term capital strategy, assessing various funding mechanisms to fuel growth initiatives and balance sheet optimization.
  • Continue to cultivate and manage strategic relationships with investment banks, leveraging their market insights, valuation expertise, and access to capital markets for both M&A activities and broader fundraising efforts.
M&A Growth:
  • Understand business strategy from CEO and drive M&A lifecycle, from strategic target identification and financial modeling/valuation to deal structuring, due diligence, negotiation, and post-merger integration planning.
  • Assist in securing critical raw material supply (pending operational expansion), acquiring next-generation battery chemistry or manufacturing technologies, expanding production capacity, achieving strategic vertical integration, and gaining crucial market access in key geographies.
  • Identify, onboard, and manage external M&A advisors, [legal counsel], and specialized consultants to seamlessly execute transactions without a direct internal M&A team.
Organic Growth:
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and championing of key internal growth initiatives, including moving towards an economics driven R&D process and mindset, supply chain localization efforts, and cost reduction programs.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to build business cases, secure internal alignment, and ensure the successful implementation of strategic projects as determined by the President’s office.
Market Intel:
  • Provide insights directly to the CEO and president on competitor strategies, and disruptive technologies shaping battery manufacturing.
  • Monitor industry benchmarks, regulatory landscapes, and geopolitical factors impacting the supply chain and demand for lithium-ion batteries.
Cross-Functional & External Resources Alignment:
  • Influence and guide various internal departments (Finance, Operations, R&D, Legal, Sales) and manage a network of external partners to achieve strategic objectives in the absence of a dedicated reporting team.
  • Establish metrics for strategic initiatives, monitor progress, and provide concise on strategic execution, M&A pipeline, and overall growth trajectory.
  • Partner with Business Development and Investor Relations to effectively communicate the company's strategic vision and growth drives to the investment community.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate strategy or corporate
  • development, with a strong emphasis on M&A and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Proven success leading M&A transactions.
  • Exceptional financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of capital markets, investment banking relationships, and various
  • funding mechanisms.
  • Deep analytical capabilities with a strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools to derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, anticipate challenges, and develop proactive, data-driven solutions in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Strong project management and change leadership skills, including PMO implementation and KPI tracking.
