Job Description:
Job Summary
The Institutional Advancement Associate identifies contacts, meets, and develops relationships with major donors. The incumbent of this position is responsible for soliciting donors’ support and keeping them up-to-date on the College.
This opportunity will have a focus on the Midwest Region, with emphasis on MN/WI
Essential Job Functions
- Send hand-written letters to Hillsdale supporters requesting a visit with them.
- Make phone calls and send emails to Hillsdale supporters to set up personal visits with them.
- Meet face-to-face with major donors in their homes/business/for meals. (150+ meetings/year). These meetings are meant to inform donors about the college, thank them for their support, and develop a long-term relationship with the college.
- Send follow-up letters, emails, and phone calls to thank donors for meeting, providing additional information about the College and its giving options.
- Send occasional notes, emails, and phone calls to maintain a connection with donors, including holiday greeting cards to all priority prospects.
- Interact with and host donors and visitors of the College at various on-campus and off-campus events.
- Provide Hillsdale campus tours to interested individuals who visit the college.
- Facilitate gifts, scholarship agreements, pledges, trusts and annuities, stock transfers, estate gifts, real property gifts (appraisals), real estate gifts.
- Maintain donor information by recording donor interactions in Call Reports to be entered in the CRM database.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree; or a combination of education, training or experience, which fulfills the needs of the College. Two years of experience in fundraising is preferred.

This relationship needs to be pleasant, supportive, and professional, while maintaining confidentiality as needed.
