OR SUPPORT TECH in Hattiesburg, Mississippi at Forrest General Hospital

Job Summary:

The OR Support Technician performs under the direct supervision of the staff RN and is delegated assignments by the OR Specialty Coordinator / Director of Surgical Services.

• Assists the RN in preparing the operating suite for the patient, patient positioning, and environmental cleaning between cases.
• Transports patient beds to OR in a timely manner.
• Assists PACU with transport to surgical unit as needed.
• Replenish OR supplies to sub sterile warmers with blankets and saline.
• Restock supplies of masks and hand sanitizing supplies.
• Maintain all Healthstream assignments prior to deadline.
• Participate in all competencies planned for the job role prior to deadlines.
• Embraces and practices WE CARE philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, co-worker, employee, and non-employee interactions.

Performance Expectations

Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and precepted phases of orientation to job.

• Demonstrate ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and /or patient.
• Demonstrate ability to help reposition patients as needed.
• Demonstrate ability to move multiple beds from patient care unit to OR on a daily basis.
• Demonstrate ability to maintain desired levels of stocking for blankets, saline, masks, hat/shoe covers, scrub sinks, linen, etc.
• Assist with OR room turnovers with environmental cleaning.
• Keep hallways clear of clutter throughout the day
• Stock and maintain cast cart with supplies as needed daily
• Declutter and maintain equipment in proper locations for all equipment rooms and sub sterile rooms.
• Order and maintain nutrition items in doctor’s lounge.
• Adhere to OR policies regarding attire and attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Experience:

None required. OR Experience preferred

Additional Certification/Licensure - obtained based on the required timeframe below

• Basic Life Support (Within 30 Days of Employment Required)
