This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of instructional design, content strategy, and operational execution, shaping the future of a large-scale learning content portfolio. The position is responsible for defining how learning experiences are designed, developed, and optimized across a diverse library of compliance and workplace training programs. It combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership of content operations, ensuring that learning solutions are both pedagogically strong and commercially impactful. The role works closely with product, marketing, engineering, and customer success teams to align content strategy with business goals and learner needs. It requires a strong balance of instructional expertise, operational rigor, and cross-functional influence in a fast-paced, remote-first environment. The Director will also play a key role in evolving innovative learning approaches that improve engagement, retention, and behavior change at scale.
- Lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of the learning content portfolio, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, customer needs, and commercial objectives.
- Oversee the design, development, release, and continuous optimization of courses, learning paths, and role-based training programs.
- Manage and scale a team of instructional designers and content developers, fostering high performance, accountability, and collaboration.
- Define and evolve instructional design standards, learning frameworks, and assessment methodologies to improve learner engagement and outcomes.
- Drive innovation in learning experiences, including adaptive learning, microlearning, scenario-based design, and personalized learning journeys.
- Partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, sales, customer success, and engineering teams to align content strategy with go-to-market execution.
- Ensure operational excellence across the content lifecycle, including planning, prioritization, QA, localization, and release management.
- 8+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or content strategy, ideally within eLearning, compliance, or LMS environments.
- Proven experience managing a large-scale content library or training portfolio, including ownership of content strategy and lifecycle decisions.
- Strong leadership experience managing instructional design or content development teams.
- Deep expertise in instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM), adult learning theory, assessment design, and learning science principles.
- Hands-on experience designing or delivering innovative digital learning solutions such as adaptive learning, scenario-based training, or personalized learning paths.
- Demonstrated ability to connect content strategy with business outcomes such as engagement, retention, or revenue impact.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to executive audiences.
- Competitive annual base salary range of $130,000 – $150,000, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
