Job Overview:

The Emergency Management Coordinator supports the Manager of Emergency Management in coordinating the day-to-day operations of the hospital’s Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness programs. This role ensures organizational readiness for emergency operations, supports compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and assists in maintaining a safe, functional, and high-reliability environment.

The coordinator plays a key role in emergency operations planning, regulatory compliance, and coordination of safety initiatives in alignment with standards set by The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, New Jersey Department of Health, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Enrolled in a degree program or have relevant healthcare experience,
  • Must have demonstrated experience in regulatory readiness,
  • Must have a minimum of four (3) years’ experience in a health care field
  • Applicants who lack the required education may substitute additional field or management experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis.

  • Hours: 20.00

Essential Functions:

Emergency Preparedness & Program Coordination

  • Assist in maintaining hospital readiness for emergency operations, including activation and support of the Incident Command Center,
  • Maintain an inventory of emergency preparedness equipment and supplies, ensuring availability and operational readiness,
  • Support coordination and logistics of emergency response activities and drills,
  • Maintain professional competency through active participation in professional organizations, continuing education, and training programs,
  • Attend assigned meetings regularly and represent the department, ensuring key information is communicated to appropriate stakeholders,

Regulatory Compliance & Operations

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all applicable Environment of Care and Emergency Management standards and regulations,
  • Support communication and implementation of requirements from The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, New Jersey Department of Health, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration,
  • Participate in the annual review and revision of the hospital's Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA),
  • Serve as a representative on the Environment of Care Committee and other hospital committees as assigned.

Performance Improvement & Leadership Support

  • Track, trend, and analyze Environment of Care and safety findings,
  • Report findings to the Safety Committee and support data-driven decision-making,
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to develop and monitor corrective action plans,
  • Assist in coordinating performance improvement initiatives related to safety and emergency management,

Incident Command & Emergency Operations Support

  • Assist in coordination and activation of the Incident Command Center,
  • Develop expertise in communication and emergency management IT systems used during emergency operations,
  • Support communication to leadership and staff during incidents,
  • Assist with required reporting to regulatory agencies, including the New Jersey Department of Health,
  • Provide operational support to the Chief Operating Officer during Incident Command Center activation,
