Position Overview:
The Boys & Girls Club of Clifton is excited to find the newest addition to our Early Childhood Education team. The Lead Teacher is responsible for teaching subject matter in accordance with the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment. This position is a part of the Clifton Early Learner Academy partnership between the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton and the Clifton Board of Education. We are looking for the right person to join our team having personality, patience, creativity and the ability to provide out of the box thinking. We are looking for teachers who are flexible to work between the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming, positive, uplifting and inviting classroom environment that will foster and nurture each child’s social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and academic growth
- Successful use and implementation of the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment
- Lesson planning for large group, small group, and individual activities and being able to adapt to the unique needs of each child in your care
- Foster respectful, nurturing relationships with children and families
- Communicate regularly and positively with parents/guardians
- Ensure classroom safety, including monitoring during outdoor time and field trips
- Maintain accurate records including attendance, reports, and care logs
- Collaborate with fellow staff and Director of Early Childhood Education to ensure the safety, and well-being of the classroom including strengths and concerns
Physical Demands:
Standing, walking, occasional running/jogging, leaning, bending, and sitting. Must be able to lift 30lbs.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education
- Preschool through Grade 3 Standard or equivalent certification
- Must submit a New Jersey CE or CEAS certification with your resume and college transcripts
- Must be CPR/First Aide/ AED Certified or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
- 1-2 years' experience utilizing the Creative Curriculum
- Proven experience teaching in preschool programs
- Experience in implementing early childhood curricula and assessment preferred
- Required criminal history background check
Schedule
Full-time, primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends for events and meetings.
This is a 12-month position, providing year-round employment and a consistent schedule, including guaranteed summer work. Unlike traditional 10-month school-year positions, staff remain employed throughout the summer and play an active role in our engaging summer camp and enrichment programs.
Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 per year
