Job Description

PROJECT MANAGER, HEALTH EQUITY RESEARCH & EVALUATION

Position Purpose: The Project Manager contributes to developing, implementing, and leading projects in one or more SUHI strategy areas, including: serving as liaison for assigned projects, guiding the development and execution of work plans, and monitoring program performance to ensure the timely and successful achievement of project objectives. The Project Manager applies the best practices in project management and evaluation to support data-driven decision making, reporting and strategic initiatives.

Key Job Activities:

  • Leads project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, adhering to high quality standards and meeting key project milestones.
  • Responsible for assembling project plans and supports the development of project goals, objectives, logic models, and implementation strategy.
  • Directs and monitors project work efforts on a day-to-day basis, identifying resource needs, and escalating issues to project Principal Investigator or Project Director in timely fashion.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with funders and community partners to support program evaluation activities by employing clear and effective communication channels.
  • Reviews and integrates new and existing methodological techniques in project management, program evaluation, and performance monitoring, applying relevant techniques as appropriate.
  • Stays up to date on literature related to project management, program evaluation, and performance monitoring for inclusion in grants, reports, and publications.
  • Leads the process of writing articles summarizing research findings for publication in professional journals; mentor junior staff in writing such articles.
  • Conveys and disseminates results from project findings and analyses to various audiences through written reports, publications, presentations, posters, roundtables, and other methods.
  • Coordinates and runs meetings (e.g., program staff business meetings and others as needed.
  • Serves as point of contact for programs/projects. Liaise with internal SHS and external community partners as needed to complete project goals and milestones. Networks with other professionals at Sinai Health System (SHS), in and around Chicago and nationally, in facilitating additional opportunities and partnerships.
  • Provides assistance writing, editing, and researching grant proposals.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, public policy, or a closely related field and 5+ years of program management experience in research or public health;

OR Master’s degree or above and 2+ years of program management experience in research, evaluation or public health

  • Experience in managing research or evaluation projects in public health and/or social services
  • Experience in managing project team members and/or supervising staff
  • Experience in community engagement and/or organizing is preferred
  • Experience with qualitative analysis software (NVivo, Dedoose, ATLAS.ti, etc) is a plus
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (SAS or STATA) is a plus
