Assistant Project Manager - Cargo/Facility Relocation

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized Assistant Project Manager to support delivery of a cargo facility relocation project at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Working with project leadership, this role will help coordinate scope, design, permitting, budget, schedule, documentation, construction activities, and stakeholder requirements from planning through closeout. The position requires a proactive project professional who can maintain accurate controls, follow open items through resolution, and support multiple concurrent activities in an active airport environment.

Organizational Responsibilities
  • Maintain project controls and documentation, including scope information, deliverables, actions, decisions, risks, milestones, and other items requiring follow-up.
  • Support design and permitting activities by coordinating stakeholder reviews, tracking comments, and following submissions, agency responses, and approvals through resolution.
  • Assist with project financial management, including budgets, forecasts, commitments, potential changes, and related tracking.
  • Organize project meetings and maintain agendas, minutes, decisions, and action-item follow-up.
  • Coordinate requirements and interfaces with cargo operations, facilities, IT, security, and other affected stakeholders.
  • Participate in site walks and support construction administration by documenting conditions and constraints and tracking RFIs, submittals, procurement items, and contractor coordination.
  • Assist with commissioning, turnover, record documentation, and closeout activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant project management or project coordination experience supporting commercial, industrial, aviation, or similar capital projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical discipline required.
  • Experience supporting projects through design, permitting, construction, commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain project budgets, schedules, controls, documentation, and multiple concurrent action items.
  • Experience working in an active airport or similarly complex operational environment with strong stakeholder-coordination and communication skills.
  • Cargo, logistics, warehouse, or airline-support-facility project experience preferred.
  • Prior SFO or airline project experience preferred.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, or construction/project management platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting phased construction or projects within occupied operational facilities preferred.
The salary range for this position is $128,011 to $150,413.
A hired employee will be placed within this salary range based on a variety of legitimate business reasons, including but not limited to the individual’s scope of relevant experience and geographic location.
Location and Commitments
  • Overtime work may be required occasionally to ensure certain deliverables are completed on time
  • Weekend work is rare but occasionally may be necessary

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office environment including the use of stairs.
  • Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.
  • Must communicate frequently with other departments and employees both verbally and in writing.
  • May need to lift and carry up to 15 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or overhead.

Additional Requirements
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
