Purpose of Job:
The Dispatcher adds value to our Customers by efficiently managing delivery routes, coordinating and dispatching delivery drivers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of customer orders. This involves working as a team and being a positive team player by applying knowledge of the local area, excellent organizational skills, and multitasking in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure all duties and responsibilities are completed as per Next’s Standard Operating Procedures.
- Route Planning: Plan and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines. Monitor routes and reassign as necessary
- Scheduling Deliveries: Ensure timely delivery of orders to customer locations based on priority, delivery windows, location, vehicle types and driver availability
- Communication: Ensure excellent customer service by positively and clearly communicating with drivers, customers and other stakeholders by addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving any issues
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve scheduling conflicts, delivery issues, truck breakdowns, and other challenges that arise during the dispatching process
- Other Duties as Assigned: As a member of the team, there may be other tasks assigned that aren’t listed above
Recommended Qualifications:
Knowledge/ Skill/ Ability Requirements:
- Ability to adapt and shift priorities due to changing demands
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Good judgement and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of Southwestern Ontario geography, road networks, and how to manage with digital systems
- General product knowledge to know what types of trucks must be used for routes
- Strong English verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
- Strong computer skills to manage emails, track orders and use distribution software
Experience & Education:
- High School or equivalent
- Previous wholesale and/or warehouse experience an asset
- Degree or certificate in logistics or related field an asset
- Experience with logistics software
- Dispatch experience
- Driver experience an asset
Physical Demands/ Working Conditions:
- This position involves frequent use of a computer and telephone
- This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations
- This position involves being seated for extended periods of time
