Duration: 10-month work (school year)

Position: Not benefit eligible

FLSA: Non-Exempt/Part-Time/ Hourly

Schedule/Hours:

· 1:00 - 6:00 PM, Monday – Thursday, (supervision of Testing Center & Library after school) = 5 hours

· 1:00 – 5:00 PM, Friday, (supervision of Testing Center & supervision of Library after school) = 4 hours

Standard schedule will be Monday - Friday, the maximum number of hours expected to work is twenty-four.

Job Purpose: The purpose of the Student Life Assistant will be to provide daily support in the Testing Center and after-school supervision of students in the library to ensure acceptable student behavior and safety.

Faith, Community, and Dominican Charism

· Ensure that the four pillars of a Dominican education (prayer, study, community, preaching) are developed and promoted among the school community.

· Develop an active faith community and model Christian values.

· Support prayer and spiritual formation within the student, faculty/staff, and parent communities.

· Uphold and implement the Dominican charism and the Houston Dominican Sisters’ congregational goals.

· Demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion by honoring the dignity of each member of the St. Agnes Academy community.

Requirements:

Main Responsibilities:

• Administer assessments and provide supervision of student extended time testing in the Testing Center.

• Monitor and supervise students using the library during after-school hours.

• Ensure student compliance with school and library expectations.

• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly environment conducive to study and learning.

• Address minor behavioral concerns and to refer more significant issues to the dean of students office, as needed.

• Ensure that students maintain a clean and safe learning environment in the library.

• Follow St. Agnes safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to embrace the mission of St. Agnes Academy

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to supervise groups of students effectively.

• Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor.

• Experience working with adolescents in an educational or supervisory setting is preferred.

• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with

others

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic technology needed for written communication with supervisor and teachers.

• Professional attitude, behavior, and appearance.

• Completion of Safe Haven training.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to perform the essential functions of this role. In this position, the employee will regularly engage in a combination of seated and active work, including working at a desk or computer workstation; communicating in person, by phone, and via electronic communication; moving throughout campus/office locations; using hands and arms for routine tasks; and occasionally lifting or moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
