Job Description
Position Function:
Developing, implementing, and managing the center's security program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and directs the operation of the center's security programConducts investigations of accidents and incidents with the goal of resolution and reduction of future occurrencesProvides written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to the appropriate staffEstablishes liaison and maintains harmonious relations with local law enforcement agenciesProvides supervision, training, assessment, and leadership of security staffManages and administers a departmental budget and works within budgetary constraintsApproves requisitions for security equipment, supplies, and materialsOversees inventory control and maintenance of security equipment, supplies, and materialsPlans, organizes, and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to ensure compliance with center and ETR policy and procedures

Skills/Competencies:
- Proven management experience within the security industry, public sector, or armed servicesProven track record of building strong relationships with colleagues at all levelsWorking knowledge of security best practices and legislation affecting the security roleAbility to understand, control, and track direct spending and labor budgetsStrong management and leadership skills together with excellent written and verbal communicationProven record of sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a "hands-on" problem-solving approach, able to remain calm, cool and collected under pressure and to take control of incidentsDemonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as well as independentlyProficient in using computer software such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirements on a year-for-year basis. Three years' experience in military and/or law enforcement, one of which was in a supervisory capacityMust possess a valid NYS Driver's License with an acceptable driving recordMust possess or obtain a valid commercial Class B driver's license with a passenger endorsement within three months of hire
