Description:

Community Helping All Negotiate Change Effectively (CHANCE) is a peer recovery support center that uses non-clinical, peer-based activities that supports individuals to make the life changes necessary to recover from mental health and substance use disorder conditions.

Position objective:

To support LCDA’s deflection and recovery initiatives by providing peer-based services, including UA collection, peer support, transportation assistance, community outreach, crisis-response collaboration, and structured reporting—to help individuals experiencing addiction access recovery pathways and reduce involvement with the criminal justice system. The position also contributes to the development of emerging programs such as FTA Recovery and Crisis Center Liaison work, while maintaining professional, open communication with the District Attorney’s Office.

Job description:

This position provides direct peer-based recovery support and outreach services in collaboration with the Linn County District Attorney’s Office (LCDA). The role includes client engagement, deflection support, data reporting, transportation assistance, and participation in emerging collaborative programs. Staff work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to connect individuals with recovery resources and reduce barriers to treatment.

Duties and responsibilities:

· UA Collection — Conduct urine analysis collection during regular business hours and weekends as needed.

· Peer Support Services — Provide non-clinical, recovery-oriented support to individuals seeking help.

· FTA Recovery Collaboration — Participate in the development and implementation of the new FTA Recovery program with law enforcement partners.

· Transportation Assistance — Provide transportation to evaluations, detox, or other approved services.

· Community Outreach — Engage individuals in the community, educate them about deflection, and refer them to potential program participation.

· Crisis Center Liaison — Serve as an on-call peer support resource in coordination with crisis services.

· Data Collection & Reporting — Complete Intake, Outreach/Deflection Event, Completion, and Termination forms and return them to the DA’s office.

· Deflection Awareness Collaboration — Build relationships with local recovery groups, businesses, and partners to support deflection efforts.

Other duties: Peer Support

· Work with peers to identify wellness and recovery goals and build a plan with specific objectives to carry out those goals.

· Exemplify recovery principles to show that recovery is possible and attainable.

· Regularly attend and participate in staff meetings.

· Input/track peer intakes and services in tracking software (HMIS and AWARDS) and complete progress notes in a timely manner.

· Ensure upon intake that eligible peers are enrolled in Oregon Health Plan. If they are not, assist them with enrollment.

· Practice cultural sensitivity, awareness, and competency regarding Person Centered and Peer Delivered Services.

· Customize approach and apply techniques based on peer’s specific needs.

· Connect peers to community resources and make referrals as needed.

· Develop and track peers' goals by meeting regularly.

· Engage and encourage peers to actively work toward goals to move toward self-sufficiency.

· Comply with all health and safety standards per state and MHACBO regulations.

· Provide back-up to other staff-this can include helping at the front desk, helping with showers and laundry, etc.

· Provides support at mealtimes (breakfast and lunch).

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Qualifications/Requirements:

· High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

· Basic computer skills (Microsoft suite)

· Must be able to pass a state background check

· Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask

· Must follow CHANCE’s Code of Conduct, and policies and procedures

· Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with the District Attorney’s Office, maintaining open, timely, and respectful communication. Must maintain strict confidentiality

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

· Ability to pass background requirements as applicable.

· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.

· Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks, or able to use adaptive equipment to perform assigned tasks, if needed

· Ability to work in an environment where people may be hostile, while contributing to a therapeutic environment

· Knowledge of de-escalation methods or desire to be trained in them; feel comfortable asking for help if not trained in de-escalation

· Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary documentation
