Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Art Frames Cut and Joint Team Lead supports daily production operations by coordinating tasks, guiding team members, and upholding quality and safety standards. This hands-on role involves working alongside the team while helping to maintain workflow, equipment readiness, and communication with leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily Team Coordination
- Assist in assigning daily work orders based on schedule priorities.
- Act as a liaison between production staff and supervisors.
- Support new hires with on-the-job training and demonstration equipment.
- Communicate updates, safety reminders, and process changes to team members.
- Hands-On Production
- Operate frame cutting and joining equipment (e.g., miter saws, underpinners).
- Review job tickets and verify the accuracy of cut measurements and angles.
- Assist with setup and minor adjustments of cutting/jointing machines.
- Monitor glue usage, V-nail fitting, and frame assembly techniques.
- Quality Assurance
- Perform in-process checks on cut and joined frames.
- Notify the supervisor of any quality defects, rework needs, or recurring issues.
- Promote attention to detail and craftsmanship among the team.
- Equipment & Safety Monitoring
- Ensure safe usage of machinery and enforce proper PPE usage.
- Report safety hazards, malfunctions, or equipment concerns immediately.
- Assist in performing minor maintenance or cleanup of framing tools.
- Materials Support
- Track moldings, nails, glue, and tools needed for the current shift.
- Notify the inventory team or supervisor of low or damaged materials.
- Team Support & Problem-Solving
- Help resolve minor production issues or delays on the floor.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
- Provide feedback to the supervisor on individual and team performance.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Skills
- Proficient in reading cut sheets and frame measurements.
- Skilled in operating saws, under pinners, and other framing tools.
- Familiar with safety protocols, especially machine safety and LOTO basics.
- Good communication, teamwork, and time management abilities
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or trade coursework in woodworking preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in frame cutting, joining, or woodworking
- Prior experience in a lead or trainer role in a production setting preferred
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS
- OSHA 10-Hour (General Industry)
- Forklift or material handling (if applicable)
- CPR/First Aid (preferred for team safety awareness)
