Job Description

Global Kids (GK) educates, inspires, and mobilizes youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and are prepared for their future. As a Job Developer within our organization, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in connecting youth with meaningful employment opportunities, fostering their professional growth, and supporting them in realizing their potential.

This position is funded through DYCD’s Learn and Earn Workforce and Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) initiative, which provides work experience and career development services to eligible youth.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying Employment Opportunities for Youth: Identify and secure worksites for paid and unpaid work experience placements by researching and cultivating partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and industries suitable for WIOA-eligible youth participants.
  • Networking and Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with employers, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote the hiring of Global Kids participants; represent GK at networking events, job fairs, and industry conferences to expand opportunities
  • Customized Job Placement: Assess the skills, interests, and career goals of Global Kids participants to match them with suitable work experience and employment opportunities; provide individualized coaching on resume building, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.
  • Employer Engagement: Act as a liaison between Global Kids participants and employers to facilitate placement, onboarding, and ongoing support throughout the work experience; advocate for the inclusion of youth from underserved communities.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Ensure timely, accurate documentation for internship placements in compliance with WIOA, DYCD, and organizational reporting requirements. Track the progress of Global Kids participants in their employment journey. Collect feedback from both employers and participants to evaluate the effectiveness of job placements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to develop initiatives that enhance the employability skills of Global Kids participants, such as workshops, mentorship programs, and skill-building activities.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of job placements, participant profiles, and employer partnerships using relevant databases and software. Generate reports on program outcomes and impacts for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in workforce development, job placement, or career counseling, preferably with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working within WIOA, DYCD, or other publicly funded youth workforce programs strongly preferred; familiarity with WIOA performance measures and documentation requirements a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Understanding of labor market trends, employment laws, and industry requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Global Kids, with a passion for empowering youth and promoting social justice.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.

Salary/Benefits: This full-time nonexempt position has an annual salary of $47,000 per annum. GK also offers affordable medical benefits, dental, and life insurance as well as paid holidays, 12 vacation days (year 1), increasing thereafter based on years of employment, 3 personal days, and 8 sick days. GK staff also have access to retail discounts and other benefits through our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
