Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our compounding pharmacy team. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, and shipping prescription medications while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with pharmacy regulations and company standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patients receive their medications safely, securely, and on time.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepare prescription orders for shipment according to company policies and pharmacy procedures.
  • Verify patient information, shipping addresses, prescription documentation, and package contents for accuracy prior to shipment.
  • Package medications using appropriate shipping materials to maintain product integrity, including temperature-sensitive packaging when required.
  • Generate shipping labels and process shipments through approved carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.).
  • Track outgoing shipments and assist with resolving shipping delays, damaged packages, or delivery issues.
  • Coordinate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, billing, and customer service teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Maintain shipping logs and documentation in the pharmacy management system.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize shipping supplies and inventory.
  • Monitor shipping supply levels and notify management when replenishment is needed.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and compliant shipping workspace.
  • Assist with inventory organization, restocking, and other warehouse support duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA requirements, pharmacy regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Report shipping discrepancies, damaged products, or quality concerns promptly.
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of shipping, warehouse, fulfillment, logistics, or inventory experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn pharmacy software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred
  • Experience working in a pharmacy, healthcare, medical distribution, or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Familiarity with shipping software and carrier platforms (UPS, FedEx, USPS).
  • Experience handling temperature-sensitive or regulated products.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying packages.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Manual dexterity to package products and operate shipping equipment.
  • Ability to use computers, barcode scanners, label printers, and shipping software.
Work Environment
  • Pharmacy fulfillment and shipping environment.
  • Fast-paced setting with daily production goals.
  • Regular interaction with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, customer service representatives, and warehouse personnel.
  • Exposure to shipping supplies, packaging materials, and routine warehouse equipment.
