Job Description

Personal Care Attendant (PCA) – Adult Day Health Center

Elderhaus at the Lake

📍 Wilmington, NC

Build Relationships. Support Independence. Make an Impact.

At Elderhaus at the Lake, our Adult Day Health Center provides compassionate, comprehensive care that helps older adults remain independent and engaged in their community.

We’re looking for a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) who is passionate about working with seniors in a dynamic, activity-based care setting—and who is comfortable occasionally supporting participant transportation needs.

About the Setting

Unlike traditional healthcare roles, this position is based in a welcoming Adult Day Health Center, where you’ll build relationships, participate in activities, and create meaningful daily experiences for participants—all while contributing to their overall health and independence.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll provide hands-on care and meaningful engagement throughout the day:

Participant Care & Engagement

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Lead and participate in group and one-on-one activities that promote socialization and well-being.
  • Monitor participants’ physical and emotional status and report changes to the care team.
  • Support meals, laundry, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Transportation Support (Occasional)

  • Assist with loading/unloading participants and ensuring safe transitions to and from vehicles.
  • Serve as an escort on transportation routes as needed to support participant safety.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to participants during transport when appropriate.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with nurses, coordinators, and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Follow individualized care plans and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Promote participant dignity, privacy, and independence.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with elderly or frail adults required.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation required.
  • CPR certification preferred.

Key Skills

  • Compassionate, patient, and service-oriented
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced adult day center environment
  • Ability to support safe participant transport when needed

Our Commitment

EveryAge is dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and dignity for all participants and employees.

We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to fair and equitable hiring practices for all qualified individuals
