Panel Welder II – Skilled Level - Day Shift in Machesney Park, Illinois at HENNIG INC

As a Panel Welder II, you will independently perform panel welding and fabrication operations while meeting established print, quality, safety, and production requirements. You will interpret welding symbols and fabrication prints, identify components, complete welds to specification, verify weld quality and component positioning, and work with multiple materials and gauge thicknesses.

Key Responsibilities:

· Independently perform welding and fabrication responsibilities without routine support.

· Identify required parts and verify component requirements against fabrication prints.

· Interpret welding symbols on drawings and apply required welds accordingly.

· Verify completed weldments against fabrication prints to ensure all required welds have been completed.

· Use levels, squares, and related measuring tools to verify components are positioned and welded according to specification.

· Produce welds free of undercut, porosity, and other unacceptable conditions.

· Grind and clean welded components according to print and workmanship requirements.

· Apply appropriate welding techniques for different material types and gauge thicknesses, including galvanized and mild steel.

· Perform welding operations on components from at least two panel welding work-center lines, such as roof panels, wall panels, doors, or miscellaneous components.

· For roof-welding assignments, properly position roof panels within the weld cell and safely operate cranes when moving panels.

· Safely operate crane equipment after completing required training.

· Maintain awareness of forklift and crane operations and follow designated aisles, work zones, and storage areas.

· Safely operate power and hand tools, measuring devices, and work-center equipment, and maintain proper tool storage in accordance with 5S requirements.

· Use required welding PPE, including welding helmets, gloves, aprons, and other work-center-specific protective equipment.

· Work safely around forklifts, cranes, production aisles, work zones, and material storage areas.

· Understand and follow established quality standards and workmanship requirements.

· Education: High School Diploma/GED required

· Certifications: D1.3 14-gauge and D1.3 11-guage welding certifications within 30 days of starting position

· Experience: 3-5 years' experience as a MIG welder and one year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment required

· Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

Skills:

· Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions and established procedures.

· Proficiency in panel welding and fabrication techniques.

· Ability to independently set up and operate welding equipment to specification.

· Ability to read and interpret fabrication prints, welding symbols, and component requirements.

· Ability to identify components and verify work against print requirements.

· Ability to use levels, squares, fixtures, grinders, clamps, and related fabrication and measuring tools.

· Ability to produce quality welds without undercut or porosity.

· Proficiency in weld finishing, grinding, and cleaning processes.

· Ability to apply appropriate welding techniques to multiple material types and gauge thicknesses.

· Ability to inspect completed work and confirm all required welds have been performed.

· Ability to perform welding operations across multiple panel welding work centers.

· Ability to identify routine welding and fabrication quality issues.

· Ability to work independently with little to no assistance.

· Ability to safely use power tools/hand tools and properly store work-center tools.

· Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.

· Ability to learn and safely operate crane equipment after required training.

· Understanding of welding PPE, shop safety, and 5S requirements.

· Ability to lift and handle parts weighing up to 40 pounds and work with team members to handle larger parts.

· Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.
