Field Electronics Technician I
CONUS and OCONUS
North Charleston, SC
On-Site
Salary Range: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
MANDEX is seeking motivated Electronics Technician I professionals to support the installation, maintenance, and sustainment of Integrated Electronic Security Systems (IESS) at government and Department of Defense facilities throughout the United States and overseas.
This position is ideal for technicians who enjoy hands-on work, traveling to new locations, and learning from experienced professionals while supporting projects that protect critical national security assets. As part of our installation team, you'll gain experience working with advanced electronic security technologies in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of integrated electronic and physical security systems.
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including copper and fiber optic cable.
- Assist with conduit installation, cable routing, cable tray installation, equipment mounting, and connector fabrication.
- Perform equipment wiring and component installation in accordance with project drawings and technical specifications.
- Support system testing, commissioning, acceptance testing, and turnover activities.
- Assist with configuring and updating electronic security system hardware and software.
- Maintain accurate installation, maintenance, and quality control documentation.
- Follow established safety, quality, and security procedures while working in secure environments.
- Travel to customer locations throughout the United States and overseas to support installation and sustainment projects.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Experience:
- One (1) to three (3) years of practical experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing electronic systems.
- Basic understanding of electronics, low-voltage wiring, and electrical installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and installation documentation.
- Experience using common hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn integrated electronic security systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including extended CONUS and OCONUS assignments.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Pull cable and perform repetitive installation tasks
- Climb ladders and work at varying heights
- Work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment
Education:
- High school diploma or GED.
- One of the following is preferred:
- Technical or vocational training in electronics or electrical technology.
- Class A or Class B military electronics or communications school.
- Electronics apprenticeship program.
- Associate degree in Electronics Technology or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic security, access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, communications, networking, or related systems.
- Familiarity with cable installation, conduit, fiber optics, and connector termination.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or Federal Government projects.
- Exposure to Lenel, Bosch, or other enterprise security platforms is a plus.
- Military electronics training or related technical experience.
Travel:
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.

- U.S Citizenship required
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
