Job Title: Bilingual Special Needs Case Manager Prepared By: Human Resources

Reports To: Early Learning & Family Engagement Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Part-time 20 hours per week

Compensation: $29-$30.00 per hour

Summary: This position supports the De Colores program, a parenting support initiative through Centro Rendu. De Colores is a program funded by King County Best Starts for Kids, which serves Latinx families with children from pregnancy to age five who are living in South Seattle and South King County. This position will provide focused support to De Colores enrolled families with child development education and navigation support, working closely with parents/caregivers to assess and identify their children’s developmental needs, connect them to appropriate resources, and advocate on their behalf. This position works collaboratively with Centro Rendu, Best Starts for Kids, and leaders from the Latinx community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Conduct assessments (ASQ) to determine the support needs of children with disabilities.
  • Recruit program participants utilizing appropriate and useful methods.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts with the program team.
  • Prepare and coordinate community events and workshops, including one workshop per quarter focusing on raising awareness about developmental milestones, delays, and available supports.
  • Develop collaboration with other agencies to create referral processes for new clients.
    • Maintain professional records appropriate for the provision of program monitoring.
    • Ensure that all activities are documented to comply with program and contract requirements, including accurate completion of all records pertaining to life skills education and home visits conducted.
    • Maintain all St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) required paperwork on all program participants served as well as data on our CRM.
    • Participate in supervision, consultation, department meetings and in-service training.
    • Meet individually with supervisor on a regular basis.
    • Promote the SVdP Mission Statement in the community by attending networking meetings and community fairs as requested by the Program Manager.
    • Liaise advocates for students with disabilities or special needs withother social service agencies as the program advocate.
    • Treat program participants in a culturally sensitive manner, assuring that SVdP’s commitment to diversity and cultural competency is maintained.


    Qualifications:

    Two years’ work experience in social services, working in the Latinx community, Racial Equity, preferably in parenting support; experience in child development and parenting curriculum. Strong understanding of disability laws, rights, and policies.

    Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance; must be able to comply with the requirements of SVdP’s Employee Driving Policy.


    Education/Experience

    Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, Human Development or related field or equivalent experience required; Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education preferred; current CPR/First Aid certificates or ability to obtain; must be current on TB (tuberculosis) test or be willing to obtain test.


    Language Ability

    Must be bilingual in Spanish and English.

    Willingness and ability to make sound judgments; ability to relate well to staff and program participants from a diverse racial, ethnic and/or cultural background.     Supervisory Responsibilities

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment:

    This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance. Working conditions may include interruptions, working alone, and interactions with mentally ill, intoxicated or angry persons.
