This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer II - Card Not Present based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to build secure, scalable payment technology across terminal, backend, mobile, and processor integrations.
You’ll contribute to critical transaction flows spanning authorization, capture, refunds, settlement, and reconciliation.
The position combines hands-on software development with exposure to EMV certification, tokenization, and digital wallets.
You’ll work with Kotlin, .NET/ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, cloud platforms, and modern payment technologies.
As part of a collaborative engineering environment, you’ll troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system reliability.
The role also provides meaningful exposure to payment processors, card networks, and compliance-driven engineering practices.
It’s a strong opportunity for an engineer looking to deepen their expertise and grow toward senior payments engineering responsibilities.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and maintain Android-based payment applications for Ingenico terminals using Kotlin and the relevant SDKs.
  • Implement and support EMV transaction flows, including contact, contactless, NFC, and digital wallet payments.
  • Integrate terminal applications with backend host systems, payment gateways, and processor APIs.
  • Diagnose device-level issues, EMV kernel interactions, transaction failures, and other payment-processing edge cases.
  • Contribute to secure RESTful APIs and backend payment services using .NET and ASP.NET Core.
  • Implement and maintain payment workflows covering authorization, capture, refund, void, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Build and support device-management capabilities, including registration, monitoring, and configuration.
  • Develop webhook listeners and event-driven services that support real-time payment updates.
  • Participate in production troubleshooting, regression testing, and initiatives that improve reliability and scalability.
  • Support EMV Level 3 certification by executing test cases, validating transaction flows, troubleshooting responses, and assisting with re-certification.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external processors to resolve certification issues and validate host-message formatting.
  • Support network tokenization for major card networks, including token provisioning, lifecycle management, updates, and de-tokenization.
  • Contribute to Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other mobile wallet integrations while ensuring payment flows meet applicable security and card-network requirements.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, compliant, and scalable payment solutions.
Requirements:
  • 2–4 years of professional software development experience, preferably in payments, financial technology, financial systems, or API integrations.
  • Experience developing secure RESTful APIs with .NET / ASP.NET Core.
  • Professional experience developing Android applications using Kotlin.
  • Understanding of the end-to-end payment transaction lifecycle, from authorization through settlement.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, including experience addressing production issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with payment processors, gateways, or other transaction-processing integrations is highly valuable.
  • Exposure to EMV Level 3 certification, EMV transaction flows, or Ingenico devices and SDKs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PCI-DSS concepts and payment-security requirements is an advantage.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, or cloud-based payment services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tokenization, webhooks, batch settlement, digital wallets, or card-network requirements is beneficial.
  • Strong interest in developing deeper expertise in payment technology, EMV certification, processor integrations, and tokenized transactions.
  • Ability to learn complex technical domains, investigate unfamiliar problems, and take ownership of assigned work.
Benefits:
  • Full-time employment in a software engineering role focused on payment technology.
  • Hands-on exposure to EMV Level 3 certification, payment processor integrations, tokenization, and digital wallets.
  • Opportunity to deepen expertise across terminal software, backend services, mobile payments, and cloud technologies.
  • Career growth potential toward senior payments engineering responsibilities.
  • Dynamic and collaborative engineering environment with opportunities to work closely with experienced technical professionals.
  • Exposure to technologies including Kotlin, Ingenico SDK, .NET 6+, ASP.NET Core, Android SDK, AWS/Azure, EMV, webhooks, and payment APIs.
  • Remote work opportunity within the United States.
  • Commitment to equal employment opportunity and compliance with applicable employment and pay-equity laws.
