Position Summary

We are seeking a highly detailed and motivated Project Estimator to join our team. The Estimator plays a key role in analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare accurate cost estimates for HVAC and refrigeration projects. You will work closely with our sales, engineering, and project management teams to support the bids and ensure competitiveness and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Review construction documents, specifications, and blueprints to determine scope and cost of HVAC/R projects.
• Perform detailed take-offs of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Analyze labor, material, and subcontractor costs to prepare competitive estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to present accurate and timely bids.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry pricing, material availability, and code requirements.
• Support post-bid reviews and value engineering as needed.
• Track historical project costs to inform future estimates and improve accuracy.
• Participate in job kick-off meetings to communicate scope and budget expectations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Refrigeration and/or HVAC estimating (commercial or industrial experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping, ductwork, and refrigeration equipment.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of estimating software (e.g., Fast PIPE, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel).
• Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
• Ability to work independently and under deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Previous hands-on field experience in HVAC/R service or installation.
• Familiarity with local building codes and energy regulations.
• Experience estimating design-build projects.
