About the Role:

The Camp Coordinator is responsible for the comprehensive planning, organization, and execution of camp programs to ensure a safe, engaging, and enriching experience for all participants. This role involves coordinating logistics, managing staff and volunteers, and maintaining effective communication with campers, parents, and stakeholders. The Camp Coordinator will oversee daily camp operations, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Success in this position results in a well-run camp environment that fosters personal growth, teamwork, and fun for campers of diverse backgrounds. The role requires a proactive leader who can balance administrative duties with hands-on involvement in camp activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Education, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent experience.prefered
  • Proven experience in camp coordination, program management, or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during camp sessions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and other relevant safety training.
  • Experience working with children and youth in recreational or educational settings.
  • Knowledge of risk management and emergency response procedures.
  • Familiarity with camp management software and registration systems.
  • Leadership training or certification related to youth development or outdoor education.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement camp schedules, activities, and special events that align with the camp’s mission and goals.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise camp staff and volunteers to maintain high standards of safety and program quality.
  • Manage registration processes, camper records, and communication with families to ensure a smooth enrollment experience.
  • Coordinate with vendors, facilities, and external partners to secure necessary resources and support for camp operations.
  • Monitor daily camp activities to ensure camper safety, resolve conflicts, and provide support to staff and participants.
  • Prepare and manage the camp budget, including tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and legal regulations applicable to camp operations.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through feedback and data collection, making improvements for future sessions.

Skills:

The Camp Coordinator uses strong organizational skills daily to plan and execute complex camp schedules and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Communication skills are essential for liaising with staff, campers, parents, and external partners, ensuring clarity and positive relationships. Leadership and team management skills are applied to recruit, train, and motivate camp staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Problem-solving skills are critical for addressing unexpected challenges and ensuring camper safety and satisfaction. Additionally, proficiency with technology, such as camp management software, supports efficient registration, record-keeping, and program evaluation.
