About This Position
About the Role:
The Scaffolding 1st Year position is an entry-level role designed to provide foundational experience in the construction and maintenance of scaffolding structures. The primary goal is to assist in the safe assembly, inspection, and dismantling of scaffolding systems under the guidance of experienced scaffolders. This role is critical in ensuring that all scaffolding complies with safety regulations and project specifications, thereby supporting the overall success of construction projects. The position offers hands-on learning opportunities to develop technical skills, safety awareness, and teamwork in a dynamic work environment. Ultimately, the role prepares the candidate for advancement within the scaffolding trade by building a strong base of practical knowledge and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid work authorization to work in Canada.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety and willingness to learn scaffolding techniques.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
- Willingness to obtain required safety certifications such as Fall Protection, H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, CSO, WHIMIS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience or training in scaffolding or general construction work.
- Local to Red Deer, Alberta.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Drivers License and able to commute to shop or sites.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the assembly and dismantling of scaffolding structures.
- Transport and organize scaffolding materials and equipment on-site to ensure efficient workflow.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
Skills:
The required skills for this role include physical stamina and attention to detail, which are essential for safely handling scaffolding materials and identifying potential hazards. Candidates will use their basic knowledge of safety protocols daily to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protect themselves and their coworkers. Communication skills are vital for coordinating tasks with team members and reporting issues promptly to supervisors. Over time, these skills combine to build a competent scaffolder who can work independently and support complex construction projects.
