JOB SUMMARYThe Lending Specialist is responsible for the complete credit origination cycle including identification, structuring and underwriting of loans in partnership with the Private Client Group. This includes the underwriting / preparation of the credit analysis and loan proposal and its presentation to Credit Risk, continual loan monitoring by preparing and reviewing periodic loan reports, preparation of annual reviews or renewals of loans to be presented to credit committees, taking action to correct past due loans and following up on loan payments. The incumbent also monitors the loans serviced by Bci Miami’s affiliates and maintains current records on each servicer. Provides client service and ensures timely resolution of client inquiries and complaints related to loans. The Lending Specialist will also facilitate cross-training of other employees in these functions.
DUTIES OF THE POSITIONThe duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Origination, identification, structuring and underwriting of loans in order to prepare and present credit proposals to Credit Risk and other Committees, both, on an individual basis and in partnership with the Private Client Group.
Coordinate the complete loan cycle from origination to booking, loan approval and disbursement, portfolio monitoring and repayment. (including processing loan advances under lines of credit and loan renewals, amortizations, amendments and loan payoffs)
Conduct Client meetings w/ Bankers.
Discuss terms and conditions, LTVs and all relevant aspects of the credit structure.
Coordinate preparation of loan documentation and legal opinions. including coordination with Bci Chile (Fiscalia), Bci Peru and others as required.
Continue the development of the Loan Workflow in SalesForce from front-to-end together with the Supernova platform.
Coordinate the preparation of reports needed with the Salesforce team, Credit Dept and Loan Operations.
Monitor rate updates in the loan systems and ensure accuracy.
Review daily loan reports to identify maturity of loans to be renewed, past due loans, past due payments, and other potential issues that need to be addressed.
Process all types of loans, including new loans, renewals and modifications of Securities Collateralized Loans, Asset Based Lending, Cash Collateral Loans.
Coordinate with CSA’s and Bankers the timely renewal of loans, informing customers of loan amortization and interest payments due to avoid past dues.
Provide client service by conducting research and resolving client inquiries/complaints in a timely manner.
Train the CSA’s on loan requirements.
Demonstrate the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
Work efficiently and effectively under deadlines and pressure, while maintaining a professional and composed demeanor.
Perform additional functions as assigned, based on business needs.
In the performance of their duties, all Bci - Miami Branch staff members are required to comply with all state and federal regulatory and legal requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1979, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the Bank Bribery Amendments Act. Additionally, all staff members must comply with the Bci’s Personnel Manual and Code of Ethics and other policies of Bci which are either currently in place, or which may become effective during the staff member’s employment.
PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or equivalent in experience.
EXPERIENCE:7-10 years of relevant experience in loan origination, structuring and credit underwriting in a related financial services role – Private Client, Corporate, Commercial Banking or Corporate Finance.
Strong knowledge of credit analysis and underwriting, loan structuring and documentation for different types of loans.
Experience in corporate finance or investment banking preferred.
Strong knowledge of loan portfolio monitoring, servicing and booking covering all types of loans: consumer, residential, commercial, collateral based loans.
Extensive PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Internet) - -
Experience with Supernova platform or similar loan systems.
Dynamic, self-motivated, with excellent verbal and written communications skills, ability to interact with all levels of the organization, and lead.
Strong interpersonal skill including client engagement and, organizational and time management skills.
Detail oriented, with ability to balance multiple time-sensitive tasks at various levels of completion.
Accuracy and great follow-up skills are mandatory.
Able to work in a team environment.
