About This Position
Vitesse Systems has an exciting opening for a Heat Treating Trainee based out of our Carson City, NV location.
We bring the heat, make the bond, and strengthen the future – one part at a time! The Heat Treating Trainee, under the direction of the Production Supervisor, will observe furnace runs, programs, charts, gauges, and recording instruments. This role will be responsible for making critical decisions in a manufacturing environment. Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values are key to success in this position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with quality, engineering, and customersLoading/unloading parts on a furnace base/grateSetting up load thermocouples as per specificationsObserve furnace runs, programs, charts, gauges, and recording instrumentsCapable of making “required” changes without supervisionReporting of non-conformances through NCR’sResponsible for reporting to work on a timely/daily basisFollowing all safety rules and regulationsPossess multi-tasking capabilitiesReporting non-conformities to the Supervisor/managerSetting up a furnace load using fixtures, graphite’s, ceramics, and weightsOperating the forklift trucksOperating cranes and shop equipmentUphold the company core valuesOther duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:Must have the knowledge and experience necessary for the position.Must be able to follow instructions and procedures and work with minimal supervision.Ability to comprehend written and/or verbal instructions Ability to setup furnace load per w/o requirements, spec, photos, verbal instructions, etc.Disciplined in following safety signs, warnings, and labels
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Experience working with heavy machinery or in a manufacturing environment (Nice to have but not required – we will train you!) PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIORNMENT: This position requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.This position is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to hot and/or cold work environments, chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, loud noises, risk of electrical shock and vibration and/or other occupational hazards; personal protective equipment may be required. COMPENSATION & PERKS: The current rate for this position is $$25.00/hour with a path to $27.00/hour after successful completion of your probationary period. Swing & Weekend Shift team members receive a 5% shift differential. NOTE: This job description identifies the general nature and scope of work to be performed.
