The Executive Director of Business Development (ED) is a growth leader responsible for identifying, developing, and operationalizing strategic growth initiatives that expand the BILH health system’s market presence, partnerships, and revenue opportunities across Southern New Hampshire and Northeast Massachusetts. This role plays a critical role in shaping the system’s long-term growth agenda by driving market expansion, evaluating new business opportunities, and partnering closely with operational and clinical leaders to ensure successful implementation, scalability, and performance of approved initiatives.

The ED will work collaboratively with executive leadership, operational teams, physicians, and external partners to translate market insights into actionable, sustainable growth strategies that strengthen access, enhance service offerings, and improve financial and operational performance.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years directly related experience
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Required: Minimum of 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in healthcare strategy, operations, business development, service line management, or partnership management.
  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Growth, Market Expansion & Execution

Lead the development and execution of business development strategies that support market growth, geographic expansion, and service line development across Southern NH and Northeast MA

Identify and prioritize growth opportunities using market analysis, competitive intelligence, population health trends, and referral pattern insights

Partner with operational, clinical, finance, and analytic leaders to ensure growth initiatives are feasible, executable, and aligned with operational capacity and strategic priorities

Support enterprise strategic planning by translating growth strategies into clear implementation roadmaps, milestones, and performance metric

2. Partnerships, Affiliations & New Ventures

Evaluate, structure, and advance strategic partnerships, joint ventures, affiliations, and acquisitions in collaboration with operational, legal, finance, and clinical leadership

Develop comprehensive business cases and financial models that account for operational readiness, staffing, capital requirements, and long-term sustainability

Lead cross-functional implementation planning for approved initiatives, ensuring smooth transition from deal approval to operational execution

Monitor post‑implementation performance and work with operational leaders to resolve issues, optimize performance, and achieve growth objectives

3. Physician, Service Line & Operational Alignment

Collaborate with service line, operational, and physician leaders to expand priority service lines and care delivery model

Serve as a strategic partner to operational leaders, aligning growth initiatives with workflows, capacity planning, patient access, and care delivery models

Support physician recruitment, alignment strategies, and network expansion with a focus on seamless operational integration

Identify opportunities to scale ambulatory, outpatient, and alternative site‑of‑care models in partnership with operations

4. Market Intelligence, Performance Monitoring & Optimization

Translate market and financial insights into actionable recommendations that inform operational planning and investment decisions

Establish success metrics for business development initiatives and track performance in collaboration with operational and finance teams

Use data and frontline feedback to refine growth strategies and improve execution over time

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross‑Functional Leadership

Act as a convener and connector across strategy, operations, finance, clinical leadership, and external partners

Influence without authority to align diverse stakeholders around shared growth goals and execution plans

Prepare and present clear, actionable recommendations and implementation updates to senior leadership and governance bodies
