Dietary Aide at Bethea Retirement Community – Darlington, South Carolina

Helps meet scheduled meal times. Provide quality customer service. Ensures proper portioning and serving of foods according to menus. Follow established cleaning schedules, sanitary and safety policies and procedures for the dining services department.

1. Check and record steam table and perishable tray line temperatures.
2. Place appropriate serving utensils on tray line per menu.
3. Properly identifies and prepares each tray according to resident’s diet and resident’s likes/dislikes.
4. Respect resident’s cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.
5. Properly cover food during the serving process.
6. Follow proper procedures for storing food by labels, dates, ensure it’s off the floor and at proper temperatures.
7. Store non-food items correctly.
8. Meet time frames for food preparation so meals are served on time.
9. Wash hands as it’s appropriate.
10. Ensure that waste/garbage is covered when not in use and dispose of it properly.
11. Assists in maintenance of dietary equipment in a safe, sanitary, and functional manner.
12. Prepare food substitutes consistent with the menu to accommodate resident’s preferences.
13. Interact with residents and staff in a respectful manner.
14. Maintain a neat and clean appearance.
15. Review menu in advance to ensure food and supplies are available and report if not.
16. Complete and record daily cleaning duties.
17. Assist in serving meals to residents.
18. Set up dining rooms timely and accurately before meals.
19. Duties common to all staff:

• Report to work on time and begin promptly.
• Notifies supervisor of illness and absenteeism in a timely manner.

• Attend in-services and staff meetings as instructed by supervisor.
