Salary Range: $25.00 - $38.00 Hourly

Sartell, Burnsville, and Wayzata, MN (Travel Required)

At Skin and Aesthetics, our Mohs Surgical Technicians are essential members of our dermatologic surgery team, providing hands-on clinical support during Mohs micrographic surgery procedures. This role requires a skilled professional with direct surgical experience who can assist the Mohs surgeon throughout all stages of the procedure, from patient preparation through tissue processing and wound closure.

This position requires regular travel between our Sartell, Burnsville, and Wayzata locations. You must have reliable transportation and be comfortable commuting to all three sites on a rotating basis. This is a non-negotiable requirement of the role.

We are specifically seeking:

  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with surgical experience
  • Candidates with Mohs surgery experience strongly preferred

  • Medical Assistants (MAs) with surgical experience
Responsibilities / Daily Duties

Surgical Assistance

  • Prepare patients for Mohs surgery
  • Assist the surgeon during excisions, hemostasis, and wound closures
  • Perform suturing, wound care, and dressing applications under physician supervision
  • Maintain sterile field throughout procedures

Histology Support

  • Prepare, process, and stain tissue specimens
  • Embed and section frozen tissue samples
  • Ensure accurate labeling and mapping of specimens for physician review

Patient Care

  • Greet and escort patients to procedure rooms
  • Educate patients on procedure expectations and post-op care
  • Perform dressing changes, suture removal, and wound assessments
  • Address patient questions and concerns

Medical Records

  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation including procedure notes and specimen tracking

Supplies & Sterile Environment

  • Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols
  • Handle biohazard disposal properly
  • Manage inventory and restock surgical supplies

Compliance

  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and clinical safety regulations
  • Maintain quality assurance standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • LPN license preferred
  • Surgical experience required (dermatology, Mohs, or operating room setting)
  • Mohs experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with frozen section histology is a plus
  • BLS certification required
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instruments
  • EMR proficiency
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
