Total Fire Protection (TFP) is a rapidly growing, full-service fire and life safety company providing inspection, testing, repairs, installation, and engineering solutions across multiple markets.

We are entering our next stage of growth and are seeking a strategic, operationally strong Chief Financial Officer to help scale the business toward $250M+ while strengthening financial discipline, operational visibility, and enterprise value.
Position Overview
The CFO will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and a strategic partner to the CEO. This individual will build the financial infrastructure, capital strategy, and reporting systems necessary to support disciplined growth, acquisitions, and operational excellence.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep experience in service and installation-based businesses, capital strategy, and scalable financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with the CEO on long-term growth strategy and capital allocation.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance management.
- Develop multi-year financial roadmaps to support scale.
Capital Strategy & M&A
- Structure and manage credit facilities and banking relationships.
- Leverage debt responsibly to support acquisitions and strategic investments.
- Lead financial modeling and due diligence for M&A opportunities.
- Evaluate investments using ROI, IRR, and return on capital frameworks.
Cash Flow & Risk Management
- Oversee advanced cash flow forecasting and working capital optimization.
- Strengthen AR, billing velocity, and project cash conversion.
- Manage construction and project-related financial risks including WIP and backlog visibility.
- Ensure strong internal controls and financial compliance.
Operational Finance & Reporting
- Develop clear, consistent financial reporting for division and branch leaders.
- Build divisional P&Ls that empower managers to own productivity, labor, and margins.
- Train operational leaders to improve financial literacy and accountability.
- Drive monthly performance reviews tied to KPIs.
Build & Lead the Finance Function
- Recruit, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team.
- Improve systems, reporting infrastructure, and forecasting accuracy.
- Support multi-branch and multi-state growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Proven experience scaling a company from approximately to $250M+.
- Background in service contracting, construction, or installation-based industries (fire protection experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with leveraged growth and M&A execution.
- Strong expertise in cash flow management and project accounting.
- Experience building and leading finance teams.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
